The Beato Steakhouse

Yesterday (Sunday), my friend who is a steak lover finally agreed to accompany me to Publika to try out dry aged beef for lunch along with 2 other friends.

Definition of Dry Aged Beef

Part of the menu (copied from Beato's facebook page). I am not sure whether the other prices are current or not so I have covered them. We ordered Dry Aged Beef - Grain Fed Ribeye 250g and Wet Aged Beef - Tenderloin (Filet Mignon) 200g.

We were served 4 warm rolls - crusty on the outside and soft inside - with balsamic vinegar on the house while waiting.

Dry Aged Beef - Grain Fed Ribeye 250g (MYR39/100g) so it came to MYR97.50 with only grilled garlic and a slice of lemon accompanying it.

We asked for it to be done 'Medium well'.

3 types of mustard were served with the dry aged steak - horseradish mustard, dijon mustard, and wholegrain mustard. Personally I do not think mustard is needed at all, the beef tastes very good as it is.

Wet Aged Beef - Tenderloin (Filet Mignon) 200g at MYR60/100g so it came to MYR120 for this thick small piece of steak with grilled garlic and a slice of lemon.

We ordered this to be done 'medium' but I find it too red for my liking. Very tender with the special beef taste. Four of us shared these two plates of steaks.

We also ordered a plate of grilled sea prawns and scallops from the appetizers section in the menu - MYR39 - for sharing too. Total bill came to MYR297.55 with 3 glasses of cold water on the house. I like that the steaks were served without any sauce so that we can truly taste the beef. Will definitely come here again for special occasions but will choose 'medium well'.

Located at Solaris Dutamas (Publika). There is another outlet at Bangsar. I think every steak lover should try out this place at least once.

  1. Beef lovers would like this place.. I like my beef medium too, but hubby loves it medium rare.. I think sauces are not needed, if me, I would want to taste the original juice of the beef..

    1. I agree with you that original taste is better than having sauces.

  4. Gosh! My hubby would love it. It is too red for me. Haha.

I never there is such thing called aged beef. Now I know.

I was watch AFC last week on balsamic vinegar. There are 2 types : commercial (the one we can buy from supermarkets etc) and traditional balsamic vinegar (so expensive and cater for the kings, riches and celebrities). I tasted balsamic vinegar in my salad, not in meats yet.

  5. I can be sure Mun lives to eat, haha!! even your steak lover friends "finally agreed" to go there with you?? must be the price that got them hesitant earlier on huh??

but I must agree with you, a must try for the steak lovers!! look at the steak, OMG oolala!!! I want a bite too, haha.. and yes, while the chef recommends three types of mustard to go with the steak, probably it's the best to go without any..

talk about sauce, am glad you did not request for chili sauce and ketchup, which many ppl can't live without, haha!! you must be a true steak lover.. I just read an article it says ketchup is banned in all restaurants in France :)

    1. This meal is considered live to eat. I seldom eat steak, this year is the only year I ate steak twice.

    1. Since you don't take beef but your husband does, do your children eat beef?

  8. I'm a steak lover and have been wanting to try this place for a while but haven't gotten round to doing it. I'm definitely oogling at that fine pc of tenderloin...and (for me) it has to be medium rare ;) Good steaks don't need any sauces and seasonings (ok, minimal lar) for the true flavours of the beef to come out.

  10. I've walked past here many times but have never gone in. Thanks for the look inside. I'd prefer not to eat grain fed beef however. I always look for grass fed instead.

    1. Any reason why grass fed instead of grain fed?

No salad or carb or anything free haha. But the meat does look like good stuff.

    1. I did guess someone will ask this wet aged beef question and it is you! They did have some writeups there explaining what it means but I forgot to take a photo so you can go there to read it.

Got free carb - free bread rolls are provided as starters.

  13. Both beef on the outside look very yummy but when cut...oh no, not for me. Somehow, I have never learned to eat beef with blood on it. So I will go for the prawns or have the beef well done & tough...lol..

    1. Have you tried eating beef that is red like this before and find that you don't like it? beef well done if tough, then not worth paying for it, better just eat the prawns.
