Robatayaki

Hot green tea ocha (free flow) at MYR3++ (10% service charge 6% GST - MYR 3.50 nett). I could not help ordering the ice green tea matcha drink with green tea ice cream at MYR15++ (MYR 17.50 nett). The ice matcha is sweet but not too sweet and the matcha ice cream tastes quite nice.

Buta Kyushu Yakidon (Kyushu Grilled Pork Belly Rice with a small bowl of soup) at MYR 27++ (MYR 31.50 nett) as recommended by PH. Luckily the portion is not that big. The pork belly is quite fatty but the fats are not wobbly but firm and I ate two pieces. Overall the taste is on the sweet side. I like the taste of the potato salad ball in the middle of the pork belly slices. The rice is those nice plump rice that is a bit sticky.

Then I went overboard and ordered many skewers of assorted meat to try. The above are various food wrapped in bacon. As expected the bacon is on the salty side but has a very fragrant smoky taste. From right to left: Tomato bacon, quail egg bacon, lady fingers bacon and king oyster mushroom bacon. The quail bacon skewer costs MYR7++ (MYR 8.16 nett). The other 3 types cost MYR 6++ (MYR 7 nett) each. I like all of them especially the tomatoes because it is sourish.

Asparagus bacon skewer - MYR 6++ (MYR 7 nett). Asparagus beef skewer - MYR 7++ (MYR 8.16 nett). The bacon skewer tastes better because the beef is on the dry side due to it being all lean beef meat.

I ordered this because there is a popular sign beside it on the menu. Banana bacon skewer at MYR 7++ (MYR 8.16 nett). Surprisingly I like the sweet banana with the salty bacon taste - almost like a dessert.

This is egg pork liver skewer at MYR 5++ (MYR 5.85 nett). The egg is tasty but the pork liver is on the dry side. I did not try the pork skewers and chicken skin skewers. I won't be trying  the chicken skin skewers but I may try the pork skewers next time.

Sakura blossoms hanging from the ceiling and seats for large parties.

Entrance to Robataya, One Utama. Like PH, we were also given a MYR 30 voucher for Robataya in Publika.

Total bill: MYR 110.75 nett for 8 skewers, 1 rice meal, and 2 drinks.

  7. That's a lot of food for you! And your trusty container didn't even appear haha.

I have not tried this place yet. It doesn't look busy much for lunch on Sundays which is my usual time at 1u. But last weekend I was there at Sat dinner and there was a queue outside.

    1. I did not eat all the above food alone. I only need my trusty container when my friends do not want to share my food. I was there for lunch on a Sunday. More people eat skewers and drink sake at night I guess. Eating skewers would be fun for children.
