Ong Lai Pie

Pineapple in Hokkien (a Chinese dialect) is known as Ong Lai which sounds like "Prosperity Comes" so in conjunction with the imminent CNY celebration, McD now has Pineapple Pie on its menu so that Prosperity comes to whoever who eats it (and so we wish of course!).

After my Pie Mistake of buying McD Spinach Pie and Lychee Pie 3.5 months ago, I said to myself maybe this time it would be different so I bought a Pineapple Pie and true enough, the Ong Lai pie is quite nice, tastes like a Pineapple cordial drink.

I cut it in two, ate half and gave the other half away. Does it mean I just halved my prosperity? Oops!

    1. They always have new fillings periodically in their pies to give customers variety but will not be permanent on the menu.

    1. Pineapple taste ok. Lychee's taste is not distinctive but still acceptable. For the spinach pie, I could not figure out the taste, does not taste like spinach to me.

  4. I quite liked their apple. Never tried the rest - the lychee pie caused quite a commotion, everyone was sharing snapshots of the one they ate on Facebook, hilarious. LOL!!!

    1. I wonder why only the lychee pie caused a commotion. Oh, is it because of the name.

I tasted apple pie before. Not to my liking, too sweet.

The more you give, the more you get back. So it is fine to share prosperity I suppose...
