Pie mistakes

When I was buying the nuggets, I noticed the spinach pie and lychee pie on the menu and just because I ate the taro pie and blueberry pie before, I bought these two new pies too despite knowing full well that I don't like the oily taste of these deep fried pies. I just took one bite of each pie to taste them and then shared the rest of the pies with my family.

Which is which? Eat both at once so it doesn't matter.

Lychee pie - MYR2.60 nett - tastes quite like lychee. As lychees do not have a strong taste, this pie is just another pleasantly mildly sweet pie.

Spinach pie - MYR2.95 nett - gooey fillings with a strangely artificial butter taste to it. I do not like the taste of this pie at all although spinach is one of my favourite vegetables.

  1. I would love trying that spinach thing, here in the Philippines, we are not fond of pies, though some buy it still, i am even more into fries, chicken, sundae and hash brown. :

  2. Not nice, eh? I had their apple pie a long long time ago, was ok - not something that would keep me wanting more. Deep fried, same as curry puffs actually - I prefer baked. But of course, some people will like - anything deep fried.

Have not been to McD for years now - last time, would probably drop by at their outlet at KLIA while waiting for my flight...McD or KFC...or BK inside or at arrivals...last time, dunno still there now or not.

  3. I tried the spinach pie last week.. I asked for lychee, but they said it has been discontinued (maybe in that branch only).. I can taste some cheesy butter smell, and lil' teeny weeny spinach..

    1. To be honest, I prefer banana & apple pie.. But since this spinach (& carrot) pie is savoury one, I can accept also la.. Got some butter & cheesy taste, I'm ok with it..

  4. I've heard the spinach pie tastes aweful, and that the lychee pie is so poorly named it causes hilarious jokes.. anyway, I have not tried any of those before..

  8. I regretted and suffered so much for trying their spinach pie. Never again, I swear! It tasted so funny until I wanted to vomit. I often ate Greek Spinach Pies and Spinach Quiche in US. They tasted superb and healthy.

    What is Ronald McDonald thinking??

    1. I remembered clearly sometime in August when my wife went to US.
Now I think it could be my psychological problem as I was expecting too much that it should taste like the greek pies.

    2. The higher your expectation, the harder it falls, I guess.

  13. Ah I saw these too. I'd normally have tried new flavours since I'm a fan of their apple pie. But I don't like lychee and couldn't imagine that spinach would taste good. So gave these a skip.

  14. I love their apple pie. Tried both these lychee pie and spinach pie but not a fan of them both. My hubby however love the lychee pie. I beg to differ. Nothing beats their apple pie :)
