Can't resist

A group of us saw the recent promotion at Tony Roma's and ordered all 3 meals to share.

Bread on the house while waiting for the meals to be served

Time to tuck in

For those who are into sweet drinks. The wild berry tastes a bit like cough syrup. The mango and strawberry drinks are more acceptable but still very sweet. I will stick to plain water. MYR15.90 +10% service charge +6% GST comes to MYR18.54 each but with Aeon Member Card, you get 10% off but not applicable to the meals on promotion below.

Salmon Shrimps Lemon - MYR55.90++ (MYR65.18) - Broccoli is soft so I like it. The rice tastes to me like Hainanese Chicken Rice. The shrimps are crunchy so they are not to my liking but fresh enough. Someone told me that the shrimps are crunchy because they have been soaked in water with sugar in it. I prefer to eat shrimps with a natural texture. The salmon is not as tender as those served in good Japanese restaurants but good enough.

Steak - MYR59.90++ (MYR69.85) - The deep fried onion rings are a bit oily as expected. The mashed potatoes are very creamy and buttery so are very filling.

We requested it to be Medium so it is still red. Should have requested it to be medium well but medium is good for it to be very juicy and tender. Tastes good.

Cranberry short ribs (beef) - MYR63.90++ (MYR74.51) - This is the best dish of all 3. The beef is really flavourful and tasty. Just one short rib with a lot of meat on it.

We were provided with 4 sauces - Carolina Honeys, Original BBQ, Blue Ridge Smokies, Red Hot sauces but we did not use any.

Total MYR259.55 - when shared the amount is not that much per person

  6. good to go in a group so that you can share the dishes, most of the time the portion is too big for one to finish.. nice promo and while having a chance to try out the food, it wasn't that expensive when split amongst you and your makan kaki.. how many were you in the group??

  8. So nice to have foodie friends to share and taste the food. Everything looks yummy, only thing is that I just can't get used to eating half cooked meat.

  11. The drinks at RM18.54 each is way too expensive for such a small glass...is it rimmed with sugar? Of course you'd enjoy the ribs the most, that's their signature. Yeah, the portions here are quite big but probably not enough to be shared by two.

    1. Yes, rimmed with sugar but I drank with the straw so the sugar fell onto my dress. The mashed potatoes will fill one up after a few scoops.

  13. I super love the complimentary bread from Tony Roma's. Always look forward to that bread each time I dine there. I do not know that AEON member can get 10% off. Thank you for sharing. Eh, but mine is Jusco Card and not the AEON Credit Card. Can still use?

    1. I also use Jusco Member Card, now known as AEON member card, not the AEON Credit card. Maybe this is only applicable at Tony Roma's Midvalley Mall but you can ask them the next time you are at a Tony Roma's outlet.

  14. Haha! Cough syrup???

That doesn't sound very nice. :)

I haven't been to Tony Romas in a long time though...

You mean the shrimps are crunchy despite having the shells removed? That's quite unusual. Yeah the short ribs looks good, love the side too (sweet potato?).

    1. Cough syrup as in the fake cherry taste. Crunchy without the shells. Crunchy as in very plump shrimps with a bit of Q Q bite to it, not crunchy as in crispy. The sides for the short ribs are carrots and red capsicum.

    2. Oh! I had that twice in Taiwan too, for dinner the last two days. I know what you mean by QQ, they remove the tail here too so you can just pop it in.

Interesting! I thought it was sweet potato, that's how long I haven't been here.

    3. I like to eat shrimps with shells all removed. Can just pop them into the mouth just like that.

  15. Oh, I always stick to plain water, coz hubby will usually order the bottomless ice lemon tea, so I will sip his one, hehe.. I like the fried mushrooms with honey mustard sauce the most when I go eat at TR..

    1. Of course if you cook the meals yourself they may be cheaper because didn't take into account your labour cost.
