TeoChew Chendul at Publika

Yesterday, we attended a toddler's birthday party in Publika and walked around for a while after the event as the parking fee is very affordable - only MYR2 per entry during weekends. At the food court, we noticed that "Penang Road Famous TeoChew Chendul" has opened an outlet here. Previously, we went to the outlet at Paradigm Mall so good to know we have another choice now.

Fruit Rojak - MYR6.90 (prices are nett) - jicama, pineapple, umbra or ambarella (kedondong), cucumber and surprisingly cuttlefish in crushed peanuts and shrimp paste sauce. Very tasty.

Original chendul - MYR4.90 - we requested for the palm sugar to be served separately so that we can put just enough to get a slight sweetness only. For an additional fee, one can choose to have ice cream or durian or chempedak (Artocarpus integer) added to the chendul.

It was early, way before lunch time so there were no customers yet.

We also stumbled upon Coffee and Art Fringe Festival Asia (CAFFA 2014) at Publika where there are about 10 stalls offering free coffee tasting but we do not like crowds so we did not taste any coffee there.

  1. Any good? They sure are pricey though. Wonder how much the original actually costs in Penang.

    1. Yes, tasty enough. That we have to ask RealGunners to find out for us - how much the original costs in Penang now.

    3. I cannot stand the hot sun and long queue so would rather pay more to eat in their new shops in kl.

  2. Eh? The signboard looks not the same. I know the sons franchised the whole thing, but the original franchise's signboard seems different. I wonder if this is ciplak one or they redesigned their signboard.
For the best cendol, still go back to the original stall :D

    1. I guess they redesign gua. You can go ask them when you go to their original stall. Not in Penang, how to go to the original roadside stall? But then it is more comfortable to eat in this new outlets.

  3. Tak cukup kenyang ahh after the party? But the food is 'sik song' (eat for fun) only, not heavy, so I think I can also load in some rojak and cendol after a light party lunch geh... I love my cendol with extra gula melaka... Yummmzzz

    1. Children party so did not fight with children for the food, hehehehe. Yes, the gula melaka is very important for cendol.

    1. Not even a single drop of coffee? Fruit rojak is really easy to eat and very appetising too. I also want to eat it now.

  6. Price is quite reasonable for Publika. Looks good too! Wow this place is really happening. I used to know the food outlets pretty well while I was working there, but just a year on and there are so many new places.

  7. Publika is always an interesting place to hang out for all generations. I only dislike their parking lot layout which seems odd and unfriendly.

I went to this Teowchew Chendul outlet once at Sunway. Are they the same?
Their Assam Laksa is okay but Ah Cheng's Laksa is the best.
