Chicken Cornish Pasty

After eating pies at "A Pie Thing", I plan to try the pies at other eateries so when my work lunch gang wanted to eat at Secret Recipe, I was thinking ok, a pie then but there were no pies available that day so I went for the closest food to a pie and that is a cornish pasty. There were two types of Chicken Cornish Pasty - spicy and non-spicy and I selected the non-spicy one.

Chicken Cornish Pasty - Non Spicy - MYR8.80++ (total MYR10.20).

Cross Section

Shredded chicken meat instead of cubes and there is a hint of curry taste despite it being the non-spicy version. A very filling meal.

  1. I've tried this. Nice though I'm not quite fond of the pulled meat filling. I would prefer minced or bits and pieces like in some steamed paos.

    2. I was expecting the chicken meat to be in cubes so I was surprised and I also preferred the chicken meat to be in cubes.

    3. I read your post. Yes, the fillings are the same. It is just that the fillings in mine were compacted. There were bits of celery and carrots in it like the one you had.

  3. ah, Secret Recipe!! and yes, I have tried their Chicken Cornish Pie, like you I also chose the non-spicy ones too.. not bad at all actually, it was way cheaper last time and I used to order a pie and a brownie, that add up to about the same price of the usual plates, but I've got two things to eat!! haha.. that's how I make myself happy~~ :D

  4. most of the time I'd order the meatball spaghetti but ever since they started to have lunch promo, I go for their lunch set, which usually offers other less interesting dishes, anyway, things are getting more expensive hence most of the time I still eat from the economical point of view, since I just need to fill up my stomach.. I'm not a person who live to eat, haha~~

    1. Food prices have increased a lot. Yes I feel that eating the whole cornish at one go is very filling too.

    1. I guess there would be many eateries or bakeries selling cornishs in Singapore, right?

  11. I used to enjoy dining meals or eat cakes with coffee there before many other cafes started to overtake with better choices. I was just supporting the Sim family members who run the business after winning the Cheesecake competition. Recent years, they had to rebrand the whole name and concept to keep up with others.

  12. Ah yes this is one of my fav things to eat at Secret Recipe (actually... I've fallen out of love with most of the things there). I prefer it to the spicy version which tastes like curry puff.

    1. I thought I also detect a slight curry taste in this original one too. You mean the spicy version is really, really spicy not just a slight curry taste?

    2. Nah, spicy version just tastes like normal curry puff. Not really spicy. Not worth it coz can buy lotsa curry puffs for the price of one cornish.

    3. But the cornish pastry is different from curry puffs because it is baked and not deep fried so not so oily.
