Good enough as lunch

On my "eat to live" days, I would simply eat "chap fan" ("economy rice") just to tick the box next to food on my daily to-do list. Stirfried lady fingers, stirfried long beans, a hard boiled braised egg and a little rice - MYR3.50 and my lunch is done.

    1. Cheap is correct. If I cook these it would be more expensive than this.

  2. Oohh when nobody wants to go out to eat or dunno wat to eat, we'll also settle for chap farn.. But I dont like greens, hehe.. Normally I'll take 1 meat, 1 egg, maybe 1 tofu.. And lots of gravy!

  3. Ooooo....I love stewed eggs. Not really a fan of chap fan as usually, they're too oily and msg-loaded and the ones here generally do not taste very nice. That's the problem when cooking in bulk, too much at a time.

    1. Lovely greens, you had. I don't think the ones here are ever of this colour - all overcooked. :(

    2. I try to go for chap fan stalls with less msg. I can detect msg by how thirsty I get after eating the chapfan.

Some leafy vege dishes here also get quite brown after a while so must go early to eat the dishes immediately after they are cooked.

    1. If I cook the same dishes will be more expensive because can't cook a few long beans only must cook more and time consuming. Here in the evenings there are chapfan stalls too. None in Ipoh for dinner?
