Gyudon

Gyudon (Beef rice) at MYR24.50 nett which includes a bowl of soup. The stir fry sliced beef with onion in ginger sauce is on the sweet side and I like the taste of the sliced raw spring onions on top. The rice is those quality rice which is soft and a bit sticky. The style of this don reminds me of the beef bowl at Yoshinoya but of course the quantity here is more.

I kept half for dinner.

I thought of ordering the TenShin Don at MYR16.90 nett but in the end, beef won over eggs. Please click on the above menu for a larger image to read those description of the dishes.

Total Bill is MYR169.70 nett for 6 pax which is about MYR28.30 per pax at SoloMen Cafe, SS2, PJ

    1. There is a pork rice in this menu cooked in the same style so you could have that.

  2. What's that? Hokkaido don RM45.80. Just a serving for one person? On the whole, it seems everything is expensive here but that's to be expected, going for Japanese or Korean.

  3. I was thinking of Yoshinoya too! There is more topping here, but there is soo much onion I'm not sure if the beef is more than Yoshinoya.

    1. Ah, when you visited Japan so many times you didn't eat at those fast serving beef bowl rice places like yoshinoya?

    2. Honestly I ate so much until I could not remember the towns and the food eaten. I am amazed & salute that you remembered the shaved ice eaten in Kyoto!

I asked myself what I really remembered honestly. I only remembered 4 outstanding restaurants scattered in Tokyo, Himeji, Osaka and Hiroshima. All the others hilang & lenyap. That is why I am a hopeless food blogger. LOLOL

    3. you have high standards so you only remember those very good ones. I didnot eat shaved ice in kyoto because I went there during autumn and spring. shaved ice is only available in summer. i remember eating warabimochi in kyoto.

  6. I haven't tried this before. There's an outlet near my office that sells gyudon. Since I love beef, I must go and eat!

  8. My boys love these type of rice. They can eat bowls of them easily. I would love this too but my husband doesn't eat beef so I'll have to eat it all myself.
