Semi-Monthly Brunch

The two of us have the above brunch: total MYR 9.50 nett (hopefully they do not increase this price in the near future) about twice a month at Ajimal Razim coffee shop. There are two AR outlets in Sri Petaling and we always go to the one occupying a corner shop lot located near the New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice Restaurant .

Nasi Lemak (Rice cooked with Coconut Milk) MYR6 nett - in this case, the rice is cooked  with cardamom too and ginger so I find the rice tastes very good with a piece of fried chicken and egg that we requested for the yolk to be fully cooked or else it would be a sunny-side up egg.

We also asked for the sambal (sambal is a condiment typically made from red chilis and belacan - fermented ground prawns dried in blocks) to be omitted as we find the sambal portion to be too much and its taste is sweet when we prefer it to be more spicy than sweet.

Roti Telur (Paratha Bread with Egg) - MYR2 nett. We used to order a glass of hot Nescafe Tarik (tarik means to pull) that costs us MYR2 nett but now we order a glass of hot Cham (coffee mixed with Tea) to lower the price to MYR1.50 nett. Nowadays I ask for all dips (dhall, fish curry) for the roti telur to be omitted and just eat it plain because I want to cut down on my calorie and sugar intake from this meal.

    1. Sometimes when we can not decide on what to eat, we will eat here too. Always the same dishes.

  4. I must have my curry sauce with Roti Prata, without that it will be too plain but because you want to cut down on calorie and sugar intake that is why you omitted that

    2. I always order roti telur so it has eggs inside it so it is tasty to eat it without curry sauce.

    3. Time to drink some teh tarik?

  5. That's quite reasonable since the nasi lemak has a full piece of chicken inside.

I'm not a fan of the fully-done egg though, I'll always tell them to do it telur mata (kerbau) so it's sunny side up. That's the best way to eat eggs for me. Haha.

    1. The default is they will serve it sunny side up but we asked them to do it otherwise, hehehe.

    1. What do you eat your roti canai with? Plain or with sugar?

  7. Wow all that food looks good. Chillies are rich in vitamins by themselves, and the spiciness increase metabolic rate. That's how I console myself anyway. :p But the oil you see in sambals is rather scary lah.

    1. What you say about chili pepper and spiciness is true and more so if they are eaten just like that - chew plain red chili but when cooked with lots of oil and sugar then maybe the cons will be more than the pros.

  8. I like my roti telur/canai to be fully soaked in curry & dhall..otherwise it will be too dry for my palate. I think I been to Ajimal Razim Sri Petaling once.

  9. What the... roti with no gravy?? Why not just eat salad and not bother with the roti instead? You know the roti is grilled on an oily surface right? In fact, the dhal and fish curry is the healthy bits of the roti meal.. :/

    1. You know I like to eat doughy food, right? So between dhal and roti telur, I will definitely use my fat intake quota for the roti telur, hehehehe.
