At long last

Last Saturday, I had to run an errand in Kepong and I remember reading this post back in 2013 about delicious beef tendons nearby so two birds with one stone it is.

As we seldom venture into Kepong (it took me about 3 years to try this after knowing about it), we ordered as much as we could. The total cost is MYR33.50 nett. We did not ask for the breakdown as we find the price to be reasonable.

A bowl of beef meatballs with hor fun in beef broth. The beef balls are just as tasty as those from Soong Kee and there is a big piece of daikon as can be seen in the photo above. I like to eat daikon (white radish) with beef as the taste complements each other.

A bowl of mutton. This is part of a wanton noodle meal. I find the mutton very delicious as the meat is tender and the mutton taste is strong. Definitely not for those who dislike the taste of mutton.

A bowl of beef tripe. This is also part of a wanton noodle meal. We are surprised to find two pieces of beef tendon in the bowl too. The beef tripe is flavourful and soft yet chewy. Simply delicious!

A bowl of beef tendons that just melt in our mouths. There are many pieces of real beef tendons in this small bowl, without any konnyaku pieces unlike those serve in some places.

One of the two plates of wanton noodles (dry) ordered. One can also opt for other type of noodles such as hor fun, mihun (vermicelli), and yellow noodle.

This is a bowl of pork noodle from another stall in the same coffee shop - MYR6 - with hor fun and mihun. We noticed quite a number of tables having this pork noodle so we guess it should be good and it is.

A closer look at the ingredients

Sri Edaran Coffee Shop, corner shop lot located in Sri Edaran Light Industrial Park, Kepong. I would like to eat here again and again but it is simply too far from where I stay so perhaps in another 3 years?

  1. Kepong? Not sure where that is, never been but everything looks so so so good! I love beef tendon, and tripe too. I would pass on the wanton mee and pork noodles if they have all those beef stuff - we don't get really really nice choices here, just one or two passable ones. :(

    1. Kepong is about 20km one way from MidValley Mall. Oh, most people eat the beef tendons with the wanton mee (dry). You prefer hor fun in soup?

  2. I love everything here today.. I love that bowl of beef balls, mutton, beef tripe and pork mee.. Oooo especially those livers (no kidney?).. Sedap...

    1. Nowadays very few places serve kidney by default in the pork noodle. Liver is more frequently encountered.

  3. the noodles look good, I like the kicap ones and also the one with pork balls.. but it must be a big group of you going there?? else with just you and your partner you would only share one bowl, haha..

    1. Eh, those are beef meatballs, not pork balls. There were four of us there that day.

  4. Yeah, I always read about good eats online too but don't venture there when they're out from our usual routes. I guess most of us eat based on location at places strategically convenient to us or places we need to go to run a certain errand. I also like the white radish pairing with beef.

    1. That is because I am not a foodie. Real Foodie will travel to the end of the world if they hear about good food there.

  5. Yum! My kind of food! How many of you were there? The amount of food is quite a lot for just two persons.

    1. Four persons. Definitely 2 persons cannot finish all the food shown here.

  7. The food is nice but the distance is the reason for you to go back there in years time, haaa...it's a good food exploration.

    1. Hahahaha, the stall should still be around after 3 years I guess. The broth for this pork noodles is acceptable.

  9. wah...ordered so many noodles...like feasting! I dun take beef noodles coz can't stand the taste, but the one in Lai Foong KL is somehow OK coz it has salted veggie in the broth to neutralized the strong beef taste.

    1. On the contrary, I can't stand the beef noodle in Lai Foong because of the pepper they use.

  13. I love to eat pork bihun or noodles anytime. As for mutton and beef, I tend to eat lesser.

    1. You don't like their taste or for religion or health purposes?

    2. It's the strong meat smell that limits my intake unless the chefs are expert in reducing the overpowering 'fragrance'.

    3. I know of a few places that serve beef and mutton without any of the strong meat smell that I questioned whether the meat is beef or mutton or some other meat. I eat mutton and beef for their strong taste.

    1. This is a light industrial area, not a food area so I guess that's why you don't know this place.
