New item

I saw this new item in the menu and ordered it.

This is the most expensive set in the set lunch menu. Between beef or fish, I chose beef. From the photo above, can you tell why I should not have ordered this?

Chose Lime Juice with ice but without any sugar. Part of the set lunch.

My order was served last (of 4) and I was shocked to see it being so watery and it was cold. I was so stupid that I attempted to eat it but it was so horrible eating it cold so I had to send it back to the kitchen to be heated up. It came back warm at the sides and only just luke warm in the middle. Stupid me just ate the whole thing swimming in water and paid MYR17.80 +6% GST and +10% service charge = MYR20.75 for it without making a complaint.

When I told my sister, she said from the photo in the menu you can already tell that it is a frozen dish since it is placed in an aluminium container. The kitchen barely defrosted it before serving it which was the reason it was cold. She told me you should have known better than to order lasagna from a place like that. I have eaten two other dishes from their set lunch menu during previous visits and they taste ok so I thought this should be ok too.

It was so watery. Just look at the amount of water. I found this online - "How do you freeze lasagna so it doesn't get watery once defrosted?" and to think they do not know this. I wonder who else got served lasagna in that state and ate it like I did without making a complaint. I also wonder have they improved on this. No way am I going back to order this again to get the answer to my 2nd question. Come to think of it, this was such a bad experience that I am never setting foot into any of their branches ever again.

  1. Looks like menu from Tappers.. But I've never seen this dish before.. Yup, was about to say the same thing - aluminium foil, potong stim ahh, haha.. At least if they put in ceramic or any proper bowl, then I feel ok la, hehe..

    1. You always eat there? You are right about the place. You must be very familiar with the place to recognise its menu.

  3. hmmm, can secretly tell us where you had this?? so that we won't be eating the same "watery lasagne", haha.. yeah, it actually looks fine in the menu, but well, everything on the menu is maneuvered to look better than the real thing huh?? the cheese looks just like lumps floating on water, OMG, that's quite not appetizing..

    1. See the next post. I don't think you will eat there since you cook your lunch in your office. You are right about the floating lumps. I can't believe I ate all that.

  4. I think Pizza Hut's lasagna also comes pre-packed like that. They pre-pack those stuff in their factory. So I wouldn't mind those tin foil that much. It is more the kitchen staff not knowing what they are doing I guess. If you heat up frozen food, there must be a recommended temperature setting and time, it is basically impossible to f**k things up, but they did. >.<

    1. I can't remember whether or not I have eaten lasagna at pizza hut. So they did not give enough training to the kitchen staff.

  6. I often ordered Lasagna and this is my first time knowing there is fish lasagna!! I only thought they have beef or chicken meat only. This fish really swam in the waters inside the metal tub! LOL...
I would be mad and shocked if I have this watery one. Should throw it to their kitchen door!

    1. No greenwich here. This one is not fit to be called lasagna.

  8. Saw the word Tappers on the side of the plate! From the first pic, you shouldn't have ordered it from the way it was pre-packed in tin foil which can only mean they're frozen. Reheating on a high temperature from frozen in a microwave oven causes condensation but the inside will still be cold. When I do reheating in a microwave oven, I usually use a low temperature but keep it in for a longer time so that it gets warm slowly and I never do it from a frozen state.

    1. You have sharp eyes. Like RG says pizza hut lasagna is also served in aluminium foil so if they are reheated properly it shouldn't turn out like this.

  9. How awful! The kitchen staff sure did not know how to reheat the lasagna. What a disappointment :( I guess this is not the place to eat lasagna.

  13. Oh dear, that's quite bad! The image looks so different from the real thing, Mun. Should've given your feedback for them to make improvements.

  14. Mun, so sorry the Lasagna turned out so watery. Frankly I wouldn't know from the menu too and I would definitely feel very disappointed over the lasagna.
