Ching Han Guan Mooncakes

My friend told me about these mooncakes from a traditional biscuit shop in Ipoh being sold in KL so I bought a selection to try. These 4 pieces I selected cost a total of MYR98.20 nett. The Walnut Mooncake and BBQ Meat Lotus Egg Yolk Mooncake costs MYR23.80 nett each. The Mixed Nut Mooncake costs MYR28.80 nett and the Teochew Walnut Mooncake cost MYR21.80 nett.

I think Nancy and Claire from Ipoh would know this Ching Han Guan biscuit bakery.

This is the place where you can get them in KL and the price list.

BBQ Meat Lotus Salted Egg Yolk Mooncake - Savoury and Sweet. Worth a try for those who likes to eat the BBQ Meat (yuk kon) that is popular as gifts during CNY.

There are many small pieces of BBQ Meat embedded in the Lotus Paste.

  1. No nuts for me. No nice packaging this one? Must be really nice then, real quality...no need for all those "dressing up to kill".

  4. This is the first time I heard of BBQ meat in the moo ncakes! It looks savoury and very tempting but the price made me stiff. These days many people could afford to splurge money on anything fancy and good.

  7. The BBQ meat sounds like a good idea since traditional mooncakes are just sweet. Prices seem high for mooncakes that are not 'branded' or come in fancy packaging.
