Big Prawn

Three of us went for lunch during a workday and two of us shared a bowl of noodle in Tom Yum Koong at MYR32++ (10% service charge 6% GST for a nett price of MYR37.30). The noodle is flat rice noodle (hor fun).

There were two big prawns in the bowl of noodle so we had one each.

Greyhound famous fried chicken wings at MYR18++ (MYR21 nett). Three of us shared this dish. The chicken wings have crispy and flavourful skins with succulent meat so they are delicious.

Two of us shared this plate of shrimp fried rice at MYR27++ (MYR31.50 nett). This dish is also very flavourful. My friend let me have the whole fried salted egg and it sure was salty even when eaten with the rice.

My other friend ordered this pasta dish at MYR26++ (MYR30.30 nett). I did not taste this dish but by looking at it, I think there is too much gravy.

Total price is MYR120.10 nett for 3 pax which means on average each person spent about MYR40 which is stretching our lunch budget by quite a bit.

This GreyHound Cafe at Midvalley Mall is facing the Gardens Mall. There is another outlet in the middle of town.

  1. Phong Hong also shared chicken wings in her post and here you also shared, slurps, chicken wings one of my favourites

Yes, I also agree the pasta has too much gravy and the gravy looks diluted

  2. That's big! If it's too big, it is not so nice, all head and may be hard. Fried rice looks good too. I wonder how they cook the salted egg to make it look like that.

  7. Walau-Eh! The prawns are so huge and surely made the soup sedap & sweeter. The price is very expensive for my budget lah. I am such a cheapo who often ate at Black Canyon where they give free Tom Yum soup with every main dish. So spicy & nice broth.

    1. i have not eaten at Black Canyon. the free tom yum soup got liew or not?

    2. The free Tom Yum is very spicy and delicious without liu unless they added few pieces of mushrooms and vegies whcih rarely happens. If you specially order their Tom Yum soup, they will scoop from same pot with all the liu included.
Trust me that their Thai food dishes are all good & cheap which my late mum often ate cos she gave them her thumbs up. My mum was so fussy that she only complimented Thai food at Good Evening Bangkok, Black Canyon and Bangkok House. She doesn;t like the food at the very popular Frame Thai (Section 17's Happy Mansion) which my sister and I love. This is subjective choice.

    3. maybe it was the ambiance of Frame Thai that she didn't like. Thanks for explaining that there is no liew in the free soup and for listing the fav Thai restaurants of your mother. I must put them on my list to try.

  9. very big prawn indeed! first time seeing fried salted egg, very creative, but I tink fried egg will paired well with the shrimp fried rice so that it don't overpower the taste.
