Specialty Fries

Back in Jan 2015, I mentioned that I will be back to try KGB's specialty fries and milk shake and now I did.

Specialty Fries (one portion) and KGB burger.

Kimchi Fries Fully Loaded comes with a sunny side up egg so it is a no for me. Will try the Texas Jalapeno Steak and Cheese Fries Beef next time.

The Kimchi Fries (with Bulgogi Beef) - MYR14.90 nett - It used to be MYR13.90 nett back in Jan this year. Looks really messy after I got to the fries below the cheese and  sour cream. There are slices of sweet bulgogi beef  and leaves of sourish spicy kimchi. Some of the kimchi look and taste like sweet mui choy. This was a huge portion so I only ate a quarter of it and shared the rest with my family.

Choose a more affordable simple burger at MYR13.90 nett

When will I ever learn? This medium is too red for me. I have to ask for medium well next time. I ate half of this and gave the other half to my sibling.

The got-to-try milkshake is Nutella S'mores or Salted Caramel Pralines but as I think both will be too sweet for me and because I like strawberry, I ordered Strawberry Season for MYR12 nett.

Very smooth, more like drinking your strawberry sundae through a straw. Where are the fresh strawberries as stated in the menu above? I drank two third of this and gave one third to my sibling so I was very full due to the fat content and did not eat dinner at all because I was still full at night except for one orange even though I ate this meal at 11.15 am.

Total Bill: MYR40.80 for a very fattening and filling lunch (although I did not finish eating all the food)

*** Update: 12 Aug 2018 (Sun) - Price for "The Shack" after about 3 years is now MYR 14.50 nett (increased by MYR 0.6 nett) after GST has been removed. There seems to be beef tendon in the beef patty making it a bit difficult to chew so it is not something easy to eat afterall.

  1. wow, you just had like less than half and yet it lasted you for one whole day!! now i can imagine how small an eater you are with the numbers given.. i guess i will not have any problem gulping the whole burger and the milkshake, but definitely not that loaded fries (actually looking at it also a bit jelak already, haha!!).. the burger and milkshake look good, and i would probably chose to have the salted caramel praline milkshake - i see the word "salted" and right away get interested, basically in all kinds of desserts :p

    1. You are right. The fries is very jelak, that's why I can eat one quarter of it only. I think you will like the salted caramel milk shake a lot since you have a sweet tooth. I am a very small eater so I really have difficulty eating a set lunch meal on my own and I had to stuff myself since I do not like to leave food on the plate.

  4. I'd skip the strawberry, melted sundae, no fresh strawberries and not cheap some more.

I'm not like the gourmet eaters either - would want mine to be well done. Of course, it gets tough and is not so nice - that is why I am not really into beef steaks and stuff. Never mind air-flown or what - it is frozen, not fresh...better be safe than sorry.

  5. I would love to try the truffled fries or japapeno steak & cheese fries, and yes, I'd choose one burger too (not complete without burger, hehe), and ooooohhh I'd go for the salted caramel pralines shake.. RM40+ for a burger+fries+shake, a bit pricey, but I'm willing to try coz all look so so delicious..

    1. I am going to try the jalapeno steak and cheese fries another 10 months from now. Once every year eat this once, I think everyone can afford them.

  6. I still remember how fat I felt after my first (and only) KGB meal... I think next time if I come again, I will just order the fries without burger...

    1. Even if you just eat the specialty fries without burger, the feeling is still a fattening feeling like what I felt.

  7. Looking at the first pic, I knew straight away that this was not a meal with your spouse. He would be turned off with all that cheese (like me)! ;D

  11. For a person who prefers mild tasting food, I am quite surprised that you ate the fries with kimchi/cheese/sour cream. It's too cheesy for me and I don't really like kimchi.

    1. Hahahaha, sometimes the Mr Hyde in me appears and I crave for very heavy tasting food but I can't eat much of them so I have to wait until the whole cavalry agrees to join me, then only I can go and taste the food so it is like more than 8 months once. :D

    1. You are right that it is Korean meet America dish since there is kimchi and bulgogi beef in the dish.
