Samet Thai

Finally a normal sized bowl of Thai Boat Noodle - MYR6.90 - with thin Thai Kuey Teow. Very delicious with lots of pork meat, pork livers, pork meat balls and a strong taste of Thai herbs.

For those who prefer more flavour, they can add these condiments (sugar, fish sauce, chili flakes) to their Thai Kuey Teow.

The new menu says that this is Pork Leg Rice - MYR9.90 - I find this to be good value for money because there is a lot of pork meat here and one whole braised hard boiled egg.

Bamboo Chest nut drink - MYR3.50 - Total bill includes 5% service charge but no govt. tax.

Thai Kopitiam has come up with a new menu and a change of name. It is Samet Thai restaurant now.

Pie

My work lunch group went to Secret Recipe for lunch again. The last time that I ate there, they did not have any pies so this time I ordered the black pepper lamb pie.

Lamb pie - MYR 8.80++ (total MYR10.20) - the price is the same as the Chicken Cornish Pasty that I ate on my last visit there.

I find the crust to be nicer, not as dry as the Chicken Cornish Pasty and I can actually see the lamb meat in the pie instead of the shredded chicken meat in the Cornish.

The lamb meat fillings may look a bit dry here but it is actually not that dry with small pieces of onions and carrots in the fillings as well. To sum it up, I prefer this lamb pie to the Chicken Cornish Pasty.

Soong Kee

A bowl of beef meat balls noodle (MYR6 for a small portion) at my favourite beef noodle eatery. I have been eating here since I was about 4 years old.

Cravings

One of the food that I often crave for is Chee Cheong Fun (ccf). I can never get tired of eating them.

This ccf stall in Choy Kei Coffee Shop (corner), Jalan Lazat 1, near Happy Garden and OUG serves very nice ccf. You can have it with curry, plain green pickled chili, or sweet brown sauce. If curry is selected, you will get deep fried very, very crispy tiny shrimps sprinkled on top and it is only served with curry, not available with sweet brown sauce. Here I ate it with a piece of bitter gourd stuffed with fish paste.

Choy Kei Shopfront.

I like this ccf from a stall located in Friendship Cafe (coffee shop not a cafe although the name says cafe), Taman Esplanade, Bukit Jalil because it is very soft and just melts in my mouth. Eaten with curry.

Whenever I pass by Khoong Coffee Shop, Seapark, PJ, I will always stop to buy a packet of Teluk Intan style ccf (MYR2) from a stall there. Not as delicious as the real McCoy but will do just fine.

Hometown Kopitiam

We wanted to eat dim sum at Ying Ker Lou but they only opened at 10.30 am, one hour away so we went to the eatery next to it, to have a typical breakfast. As it was a public holiday, there were no breakfast set meals available so we had to pay the normal price which was a bit more expensive.

Kaya Butter Toast - MYR2.80

2 Omega half boiled eggs - MYR2.80 - good that they gave us two bowls without us having to ask. Some places give only one bowl with the eggs in it and expect us to crack both eggs at the same time into the same bowl that held them.

Runny half boiled eggs

Hot Cham (coffee mixed with tea) - MYR3.50 - Don't be misled by the light colour of this coffee. It is very bitter. Both of us share all the food and with 5% service charge, the total bill came up to MYR9.55 which is a bit on the high side.

On working weekdays, they offer sets with better prices.

Tempeh

Tempeh is made from fermented soybeans and compressed into a block which sometimes is cut into slices to be used in other dishes.

Taste Enclave

We were in Taste Enclave at Avenue K (the food court) and decided to order some food from Sentul Ah Yap Charcoal Hokkien Mee's stall.

Hokkien Mee - MYR9.90 - quite nice.

Wat Tan Hor with Fish Fillet  - MYR11.90 - the sauce is too much and sticky but I managed to finish it.
