Peng Chu Midvalley Mall

On Thursday 5.dec.2024, both of us woke up early at about 3.40 am so went out for brunch at 7 am to Sing Yeh jalan lazat and then to Hou's Kopitiam Taman Continental.

*** Wednesday 4.dec.2024 ***

I wanted to eat at Peng Chu Hunan Cuisine Midvalley Mall so I ordered all the dishes. We didn't order rice 🍚 because we have eaten breakfast earlier so we wasn't hungry but could eat a bit.

1.49 pm - Steamed pork belly with spices crushed rice MYR 48++ This dish is known as FenzhengRou aka 粉蒸肉

We took 4 pieces of sweet potato and some crushed rice home. He says the slices of pork belly covered by the spiced crushed rice taste similar to the pork belly in bak Chang dumplings.

1.47 pm - steamed eggs with 6 prawns MYR 26++ the steamed eggs texture is very smooth. He said he could steamed eggs for me at home 😂 

1.50 pm - size comparison. I also ordered hot tea king aka char wong MYR 13++ which appeared in a tall big glass jug and not the usual teapot. We didn't order any spicy dishes because we cannot stand the fiery 🔥 heat of spicy 🥵 food. We noticed overseas customers sitting at the tables around us enjoying the spicy dishes very much as they are very familiar with their local spicy dishes.

2.34 pm - dim interior 

2.39 pm - Peng Chu restaurant is next to TGI Fridays.

2.43 pm - after 10% opening promo discount, the total is MYR 86.15 nett.

*** Thursday 5.dec.2024 ***

7.12 am - his pork noodles at Sing Yeh jalan lazat. Maybe it is too early so he says the soup tastes like clear drinking water.

I waited for him in the car and then we went to Hou's kopitiam taman continental for my favourite salted butter iced coffee.

7.50 am - my iced salted butter coffee, his hot cham and the two soft boiled eggs for him.

7.51 am - he also ordered duck egg fried kway teow MYR 14.90 and added cockles MYR 4

And when asked, we said to cook the cockles thoroughly. They turned out to be very firm.

11.50 am - I ate the only remaining tea egg from Friday, 6 days ago with one slice of bread and all the remaining spiced crushed rice and orangy sweet potatoes from the previous day.

3.06 pm - he ate this roast chicken for his early dinner. Bought from the previous new loan hin eatery now with TST nameboard above the entrance of the eatery.

See Ham Curry Noodles

On Monday 8.jul.2024, went to eat the cockles aka see ham curry Noodles that he always talk about at Chan Sow Lin because we thought there will be less people on a public holiday but we were wrong. There was a long queue when we arrived so I went and buy takeaway to eat the noodles at home instead.

*** Girl & Mommy Curry Mee ***

11.21 am - placed my order at 10.23 am and received my order at 10.48 am which is a 25 minutes wait.

The above is Big Mac Curry Mee MYR 23 nett. It has lots of see ham aka cockles. Other ingredients are siew yuk and deep fried ju pei aka skin. The curry is red but it is just a bit spicy so I, who cannot stand spicy food, am ok to eat it. I ordered yellow mee and mihun mixed but was given mihun and horfun so he cooked two packs of Maggi mee instant noodles to eat with this curry.

We shared one bowl and I drank all the remaining curry broth. The cockles are very fresh and naturally springy. I wonder what food were fed to the cockles for them to be so naturally bouncy and springy.

10.26 am - closed on Sunday. Can you see photo 1 on the stall with lots of cockles? That is the curry noodles that I bought for MYR 23 nett.

10.25 am - Chan sow lin girl & mommy curry noodles is located in an industrial area with no available parking spots. Many people in the queue waiting for seats.

11.28 am - I also bought pork ribs curry no noodles, beef tendon tripe no noodles and fish paste dumplings no noodles. The pork ribs curry is on the sweet side with lots of melted onions in it so it is tasty. These 3 items cost MYR 40 nett so total price paid is MYR 63 nett.

11.50 am - this is the remaining instant noodles he cooked.

11.50 am - I ate the instant noodles with the beef tendon and tripe. Very tasty because the tendon and tripe are cooked until very soft so they are very suitable for my weak teeth.

11.43 am - one piece of tendon and two pieces of tripes with my portion of remaining curry soup with the instant noodles he cooked.

Morning 42.95 due to the iced salted butter coffee

Multigrain Barley Bread

On Sunday 2.jan.22, we went to Taman Desa to buy food for the whole day. Kid 1 is on duty for today.

12 noon - a slice of Massimo seeded multigrain bread with barley. Taste fine to me with a tinge of sweetness.

Price is MYR 4.90 nett. Some shops that sell Massimo bread chose not to sell this limited edition bread from Massimo.

11 am - shared lunch of Tuck Tuck Tei economy rice at MYR 10 nett with 1 portion of rice, four angled beans, pumpkin, steamed eggs, bitter gourd, egg tofu, soyknot, luffa and pork chop. I didn't eat the rice because I ate nasi lemak.

12.02 noon - my lunch of nasi lemak MYR 11 nett from Sepetang coffee shop Taman Desa with sambal tiny prawns, sambal kerang, long beans, potatoes, half a hard boiled egg, anchovies, cucumbers, and peanuts. The sambal kerang tastes better than what I expected.

Curry mee

A bowl of tasty curry mee with plenty of blood cockles and tofu pok (deep fried bean curd puffs) sold by a stall in the O & S coffee shop at Paramount Garden, Petaling Jaya. Curry mee tastes especially well with lime juice, don't you agree?

See Ham Chow Fun

My mother used to buy See Ham Chow Fun (Stir Fried Yellow Noodle with Blood Cockles) for me to eat from the morning market when I was young. It has been a while since I last eat this dish as usually I will eat Char Kway Teow (Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodle) instead.
