My friend had this vegetarian meal at Nana Green Tea, Midvalley Mall. I can see tofu (beancurd, wong nga pak cabbage, broccoli and mushrooms (I think is bunashimeji mushrooms) but I won't order this meal because I don't like the brown gravy.

Sakura Strawberry Parfait
I could not resist strawberry so I bought one of the March & April special sweets to try.
Other than the sakura paste, the other ingredients in this parfait are whipped cream, strawberry sauce, strawberry ice cream, one strawberry fruit, 3 shiratama dango (glutinous rice balls), corn flakes, a layer of melted vanilla ice cream which was very, very, very sweet and a layer of strawberry jelly cubes in strawberry sauce (very little since it is at the bottom of the glass which has very little space).
The bigger ball of strawberry ice cream which I like best because it is only slightly sweet and a bit sourish. I shared this parfait with my friend. For MYR28.90 nett, this is a once in a few months affair. Before this, I have eaten parfait twice in Nana eatery. Once in June 2016 (Yuzu Parfait at MYR23.80 nett) and once in July 2014 (Matcha Warabimochi Parfait at MYR19.80+). I wonder when I will get the cravings to eat a parfait here again. As you can see, the price has gone up a lot. In another 10 years, will the price be MYR50 nett for a parfait?

Here the small pink ball of sakura paste on top of the corn flakes can be seen clearly. The pink paste is a bit too sweet for me. As before, I could not quite put my finger on the sakura taste.

Can see the 3 shiratama dango (glutinous rice balls) from this angle.

March April Specials
Instead of monthly's specials, now it is bi-monthly.
The description does not help. I still do not understand what Tacos Rice is.
I have eaten Sakura soft serve in Japan and all I could remember is that it does not have a strong flavour and I could not pin point the flavour. I couldn't resist the temptation so I ordered the Sakura Strawberry Parfait (will be shown in another post).
I think the milk taste may be stronger than the Sakura taste for these drinks.

Jan Feb Specials
The Special Sweets for Jan and Feb 2017 are: Chocolate Banana Parfait, Chocolate Banana Hotcakes, Azuki Cafe Mocha (hot or cold). I am sure many of you would agree that chocolate and bananas tastes good together but what about the combination of Azuki (Red bean) and Mocha (Chocolate Coffee Milk)?
The Special Food for Jan and Feb 2017 is: Tofu Soboro Ankake Don - Broccoli, Shrimp, Minced Chicken rice. I don't think I will be ordering this as any food with chicken in it is my last resort.

Special December Food
For the month of November 2016, Nana's special food is Shogayaki Chicken at MYR21.60 nett. For this month, it is Chicken Katsu Don at the same price.
A closer look - I guess everyone is familiar with chicken katsu because I believe it is almost like deep fried deboned chicken chop. Here they serve it with scrambled egg, millet rice and mushrooms.

Dec Special Sweets
Nana's Green Tea's Special Sweets for December 2016 which is based on berries with drinks based on white bean.
White Bean Sweet Soup with Matcha - Hot or Cold (MYR16.90 nett each). I am not familiar with white bean so I look them up and it seems that white beans are also known as lima or butter beans which I am also not familiar with so I wonder how do they taste like.
Matcha Chiffon & Berry Parfait (MYR25.90 nett) and Berry Chocolate Hot Cake (MYR20.60 nett).

Special November Food
For the month of October 2016, Nana's special food is Soboro Ankake Omelette Rice at MYR23.90 nett. For this month, it is Shogayaki Chicken at MYR21.60 nett. Shoga means ginger, and yaki means grill or fry. So this is stir-fry chicken with ginger sauce and shimeji mushrooms served with rice and vegetables. In the photo, it seems to have mashed potatoes too or it may be some other food.

Nov Special Sweets
Nana's Green Tea's Special Sweets for November 2016 which is based on apples with drinks based on hoji cinnamon and ginger.
Apple Pie Parfait (MYR23.90 nett) and Apple Hot Cake (MYR19.60 nett). I still prefer parfait to hot cake.
Hoji (roasted green tea) Cinnamon Latte with Ginger Syrup - Hot or Cold (MYR16.90 nett each). I think the hot version will taste better than the cold version. What do you think?

Vegetarian Set Meal
This eatery is smart to know that there are many vegetarians and so they now have a Vegetarian Set Meal menu which is only MYR18.90 nett for a set meal as compared to MYR22.90 nett for a non-vegetarian set meal.
Set O - Sweet and Sour Tofu with rice and miso soup. Set P - Tofu Hamburg with rice and miso soup.
Set Q - Ankake (Thick sauce) Vegetable Udon. Set R - Kitsune Udon. Set S - Ankake (Thick sauce) vegetable Don (rice). Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. In Japanese mythology aburaage is the favorite food of Kitsune so the udon with aburaage is called Kitsune Udon. Aburaage is deep fried tofu.
For vegetarians, I wonder which set would they prefer.
Please click on the above to get a larger image to view the drinks.

Oct Special Sweets
Nana's Green Tea's Special Sweets for October 2016 which is based on pumpkins.
Pumpkin Parfait - MYR23.90 nett - Pumpkin Pudding at the bottom, soft served ice cream and corn flakes next, then a scoop of vanilla ice cream, red bean paste and pumpkin cake.
Pumpkin Hot Cake - MYR19.60 nett - Pancake made with pumpkin in the batter served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of blended pumpkin white bean paste and whipped cream.
Pumpkin Kuromitsu Latte (hot) - MYR16.90 nett - Milk, pumpkin puree and white bean paste topped with whipped cream and brown sugar syrup. Kuromitsu literally means black honey and is a Japanese syrup.
Pumpkin Latte with Soft cream (cold) - MYR16.90 nett - similar to the above except that it is topped with soft serve ice cream instead of whipped cream and is served cold.
The above items sound like heaven for people with a very sweet tooth. I have a sweet tooth too but not as sweet so I don't think I will be trying any of the above items. It would be interesting to see whether the Oct special sweets menu for Oct next year will have the same items or not.

Special October Food
For the month of September 2016, Nana's special food is Keema Curry Udon at MYR23.90 nett. For this month, it is Soboro Ankake Omelette Rice at the same price as last month's food. Soboro means minced chicken meat. Ankake seems to mean sauce thickened with starch or a dish prepared with a starch-based sauce.
Minced Chicken sauteed with Shimeiji mushrooms and carrot with thick sauce with a special fried rice topped with an omelette. I won't be ordering this dish because I don't like thick sauce and the omelette in the photo above looks too runny for me.

Up by 1
Instead of the Sept Special Food Keema Curry Udon, I chose to eat my usual Udon dish which is the Creamy Salmon Udon set which includes a drink of our choice from a list of drinks provided. Taste just as good as before.
For the other set, we ordered the Saba miso, rice and soup set which also includes a drink of our choice.
For both sets, we choose to have hot Karigane tea which is a twig green tea.
As usual, whenever we dined at Nana's Green Tea, I must have my green tea slushy at MYR16.10 nett which includes a scoop of green tea ice cream and 3 small glutinous rice balls. The reason I eat here for the main dishes is because I want to eat this green tea slushy.
As we share the main dishes, the bill came up to MYR61.90 nett for 4 pax. When we looked at the bill closely, we noticed that the price of the set meal has increased by MYR1 from MYR21.90 nett to MYR22.90 nett now.
Previously the price of the set meal is MYR21.90 nett but now it is MYR22.90 nett. Silently the prices have been creeping up without us noticing it if we are not paying enough attention to the prices.

Special September Food
For the month of July and August 2016, Nana's special food is Seafood with Soy Milk Soup Udon at MYR23.90 nett. For this month, it is Keema Curry Udon at the same price as last month's food.
This is a dry udon dish. From the photo, the curry is not apparent. Keema Curry Udon sauteed with caramelised onions and carrots with crispy vegetable salad with a poached egg. We are advised to mix well before enjoying this dish.

Oroshi Miso Hamburg
Text added in later: Set I: Beef patty (you can opt for chicken patty) with rice, salad, shredded daikon (white radish) and miso soup. This set meal comes with a drink of your choice at the price of MYR21.90 nett at Nana's Green Tea.
Matcha Latte Cold which is the drink that we chose. Strong green tea taste and creamy so we like it.

Sweet Sour Fish Set
On another visit to Nana's Green Tea eatery, we ordered Set C - Sweet and Sour Fish which is the other new set meal from the set meal menu at the usual MYR21.90 nett. For the drink that is included in the set meal, we had our usual choice which is a pot of hot Karigane tea (twig green tea) so there is no photo of it.
The deep fried fish pieces are succulent and nicely done but a tad too salty for my liking whereas the stirfried mushrooms and carrot strips are slightly on the sweet side. I think we will stick with the Saba Fish Miso Set instead.

Alternate Slushy
My favourite matcha slushy from Nana's Green Tea is the Matcha Shiratama Slushy (MYR16.10 nett) because I like to eat the green tea ice cream that is on top of the matcha slushy even though I am indifferent to the shiratama (glutinous rice balls).
The other three choices are:
1. Matcha Kanten Slushy - Kanten means jelly.
2. Matcha Kuromitsu Slushy - Kuromitsu is brown sugar syrup. This slushy is topped with whipped cream and drizzled with brown sugar syrup. I dislike eating whipped cream because I do not like the foamy texture of it so I will never order this.
3. Matcha Soft Cream Slushy - this slushy is topped with soft serve vanilla ice cream. Since my aim of eating at this place is to eat as much green tea item as I could, why would I want to eat vanilla ice cream so this option is forever out too.
That leaves me with Matcha Kanten Slushy which is Matcha Slushy topped with black soybean and kanten jelly at MYR11.50 nett which is priced lower than my favourite Matcha Shiratama Slushy so I ordered that once in a while because I can save MYR4.60 by doing so and still get to eat Matcha Slushy.
Close up of the slushy. The yellowish brown colour is the brown sugar syrup. Lots of black soybean which is said to be good for health and green jelly. The slushy is quite watery so I think I will stick with my favourite matcha slushy which is not so watery unless I just ate it recently.
