Shock Sotong Squid

On Monday 4.may.2026, he thought of eating roti canai so we went to our favourite roti canai shop Ajimal which is now Aliff that is located back to back with Swee Hing Sri Petaling.

8.45 am - he changed his mind about eating fried chicken nasi lemak and took some rice and a few dishes from the chap fan counter without asking about the price of each dish that he selected:

😂 He got a shock at the price of the two medium squids 😂 

8.53 am - roti telur bawang MYR 3.60+

Hot Nescafé drink MYR 2.85+

Grand total MYR 31.20 nett.

After eating this meal, I don't think he got enough protein so I suggest going to Chun Yang for the breakfast set.

9.32 am - breakfast set MYR 10 nett:

Hot coffee but I think they gave us hot cham because I can detect tea in this coffee drink. We didn't feedback to them because we are ok with the hot cham drink.

Kaya butter toasts with very fast melting butter.

9.34 am - two soft boiled eggs for him, part of the breakfast set.

9.45 am - he told me that the stall that sells keto meal broccoli chicken leg eggs is closed so I went and ordered the meal I ordered previously:

Dry instant cintan noodles MYR 11 nett and add livers MYR 2 total MYR 13 nett.

Then I completed my meals for this day at 11 am.

Retained 250g water because ate carbs roti canai and instant noodles cintan 😂

LFC Sambal Sotong

On Tuesday 24.may.22, bought two shopeefood deliveries for the Elderlies' lunch and our meals for the whole day.

11.34 am - bought these two set rice from LFC and put in a few pieces of Sotong and a bit of sambal into the box with the fried chicken rice for the Elderlies' lunch. Just gave them the fried drumstick and rice. They like the drumstick with juicy meat and crispy skin.

Shopeefood delivery - LFC two rice set at MYR 25.30 nett inclusive of delivery fees.

Also bought the knuckle rice for the Elderlies. They like the thick pork skin on the knuckle but didn't eat all the meat so the remaining meat was discarded. Not going to buy this knuckle rice for them again. No point wasting food.

Previously the knuckle rice was placed in a plastic container. Now it is placed in a cardboard container which is more environmental friendly.

2.24 pm - couldn't eat all the sambal sotong because the portion is big with lots of gravy so put the remaining on top of a slice of bread to store in the fridge for another day.

Nasi Kunyit Jumbo - MYR25.85 nett (MYR22.17 with 10% service charge and 6% GST) - very flavourful and tasty.

Char Kway Teow - MYR15.30 nett (MYR13.11++). Taste authentic but is a bit too salty for me.

Assam Laksa - MYR14.85 nett (MYR12.74++). This bowl of assam laksa passed the taste test.

A cup of hot Cham (coffee mixed with tea) - MYR5.38 nett (MYR4.62++).

A small glass of Ice Kacang (Red bean shaved ice) - MYR8.68 nett (MYR7.45++). Taste of coconut milk and very light taste of rose syrup, not too sweet so I like it.

A small glass of cendol - MYR7.59 nett (MYR6.51++). I prefer the Ice Kacang above to this cendol because the Ice Kacang tastes better. 

This Ten Years eatery gathers many local dishes from popular hawker stalls under one roof.

Ten Years Eatery at Evolve Concept Mall, Ara Damansara. There is another outlet at Sri Petaling which we have yet to visit.

The price is of course more expensive that what you pay at hawker stalls.

Mee Hoon Sotong

Mee Hoon Sotong (Squid) - MYR4, the mee hoon is soft and the gravy tastes like the gravy of wat tan hor which I believe is the taste of stir fried garlic with soy sauce. The squid is somewhat crunchy.

Free Flow Soft Drinks

I went to Reggae Mansion KL again with my friends this time for their set lunch which includes free flow soft drinks - there is a choice of coca-cola, sprite or ice lemon tea; soup of the day, dessert of the day, and a main dish - seafood marinara for MYR15.90 nett or grilled chicken on a hot plate for MYR19.90 nett so I chose the pasta dish. As I do not take soft drinks, I told the waiter, no drinks for me but still he brought me a glass of water which I did not touch at all because the source of the water is not known to me. On hindsight I should have requested him to take back the glass of water.

Soup of the day - mushroom soup with doughy bits in it

Seafood marinara - I like the marinara sauce because of the tomatoes in it but my friend dislikes it and I did not ask her why. The spaghetti is too al dente for me because I like it to be softer and the spaghetti just did not taste like durum wheat pasta to me. I felt it is more like Chinese noodle but then the generous amount of ingredients - 4 prawns, 3 squids, and 3 crab meat balls kind of made up for the taste of the pasta noodle.

MyDulang @ Beef Rendang Set - MYR19.90 - shared by two.

There are two other choices for the MyDulang set - chicken rendang or chicken cooked with red sauce (creamy spicy tomato sauce) or better known in the Malay language as "Ayam Masak Merah". For all three sets, there is a choice of "Bandung Cincau" or fresh lemon tea drink. "Bandung" is a rose syrup mixed with milk drink. Cincau is grass jelly, usually made from a herb named "Mesona chinensis", in the mint family (Lamiaceae). An herb (American) vs a herb (British) - an interesting fact.

I chose "Bandung Cincau" since it is Hari Raya and drinking lemon tea just does not fit into the overall festive mood. My spouse ordered a regular cup of hot "teh tarik" - MYR3.80 from the ala carte menu.

Keropok lekur, beef rendang, sotong sambal, long bean with its own sambal, crackers, kangkung in sambal and tomato rice. Taste wise - good enough but not superb.

Actually I am not a fan of both the items above and so I forced myself to drink up and eat up so that both items do not go to waste. Pleased to say I cleaned both up but will not do this again - meaning I will not order anymore food sets that contain food items that I am not a fan of.

If the food items in the set are not enough, one can order the items separately from the special ala carte menu.
