Ipoh Ais Kopi

On Friday 22.mar.2024, went to Ikea to put some items into their recycle bins. Before that ate brunch at pudu icc and after that, ate early tea at IKEA and then early dinner at an eatery we have never been to before which is Ipoh Ais coffee mytown.

1.49 pm - ice cham which qualifies for an add on price of MYR 3.80++ because he ordered one main noodle dish.

His warm red bean orange peel tong Sui MYR 6.50++ which to his surprise wasn't sweet at all so he thinks they forgot to add syrup but he is fine with it because he doesn't want to drink sweet tong Sui.

My ABC with a default scoop of corn 🌽 ice cream 🍨 MYR 8.50++ which has too much ice so i couldn't finish it though I ate all the toppings.

1.44 pm - he selected this beef tendon noodles soup MYR 18.90++ which he gave me eat some of the noodles and beef with tendons.

2.01 pm - my portion. The wanton mee is crunchy and thin so it is easy to eat. The beef soup has strong herb taste but is not salty so I drank it all. I ate the noodles and beef with pickled green chillies which are very appetising.

2.46 pm - I walked away from this much ice.

1.45 pm - Ipoh Ais Kopi at mytown.

2.47 pm - total bill is MYR 43.75 nett.

1.40 pm - the menu recommend these two items. Perhaps next time we will order them.

9.43 am - we chose to sit here because it is the better choice of available seats. All better tables are full. Total price for ice Hainan drink, Kaya butter toast, two half boiled eggs is MYR 10.60 nett.

9.46 am - he ordered this chicken mee sua in wine soup MYR 16 nett which tastes good 👍

9.57 am - I ordered one roll of popiah MYR 4 from aunt mei and had to take it to my table because they are not allowed to venture into the section where we were seated. I half expect someone to tell me not to eat the popiah at our table but luckily no one did.

11.47 am - after buying two sets of 4 tea towels for my friend:

Inamaria blue/pink 30x40 com MYR 10 for 4 in 1 pack.

Rinnig white/green/patterned MYR 13 for 4 in 1 pack

We went for early tea:

Hot Black coffee no sugar MYR 6.90

Very small apple pastry with raisins MYR 1.50

Cinnamon roll pastry MYR 2.50

Then I saw the Swedish beef pie MYR 9.90 and decided to order it. He couldn't stand the butter smell because the staff reheated the pie so I sat and ate the beef pie at another table.

11.55 am - rich butter flaky pastry pie with coarsely minced beef fillings. Not that heavy but flavours are full.

After that, at about 1.44 pm, we went for early dinner at Ipoh Ais Kopi mytown which we haven't been to as shown in photo 1 onwards.

On Thursday 21.mar.2024, he went to do some packing and then picked me up for chapfan no rice brunch at golden chopsticks Sri petaling.

10.41 am - roast chicken thigh and siew yuk MYR 10 nett. Two chapfan no rice and one ice cham drink MYR 16 nett:

My order: 1 braised egg, yin choy, okra and nam yee chicken pieces.

His: choy sum and omelette.

That wraps up my omad.

Lan Je Tilapia Fish

On Wednesday 20.mar.2024, ate brunch with the elderly at Lan Je eatery taman tan yew Lai off old Klang road. Then after sending the elderly back, ate ice dessert again at kwong wah oug after an encounter with a NPC.

11.47 am - I ordered the following dishes:

1. Cha wong MYR 8

2. 2 small rice but was charged for 3 small rice at MYR 1.20 per plate of small rice so paid MYR 3.6 instead of MYR 2.4

3. 2 fish with no chili at MYR 24 per fish

Only one type of soy sauce as the gravy with or without chili and only tilapia fish is on the menu

4. Small portion of lettuce with Fu yu gravy MYR 11

5. Small portion of sweet potatoes leaves stir-fry with garlic only MYR 11

6. Small portion of tofu with sing Kong gravy MYR 13

7. Medium portion of tiny prawn omelette MYR 12 which the elderly says is too salty 

Prices stated are nett prices.

11.49 am - the last dish to arrive at the table is the tiny prawns omelette. We ate everything as the fish is quite small. The elderly ate one small portion of rice with a lot of fish meat and portions from every dish ordered, whereas kid3 gave me half of his small portion of rice.

11.39 am - it is very difficult to get a parking space in this area.

12.38 noon - Total price is MYR 106.60 nett. Got charged for 3 instead of 2 small portions of rice.

*** Kwong Wah Turmeric Fried chicken ***

I ordered ABC gula melaka with no sugar so they didn't put any gula melaka on the ice as shown below. 😂

Chicken wing MYR 5.50 nett

Drumstick MYR 6.15 nett

The chicken were eaten by him at home as dinner as I brought a container to bring them home.

1.28 pm - the same fried chicken with bubur cha cha ice dessert MYR 7.50 nett without any sugar so the sweetness is only from the red beans.

This is bubur cha cha ice so the ice is plain water ice, not bubur cha cha tong Sui frozen into ice and then turn into ice shavings so if customers say no sugar like I did, the ice is not sweet at all. The sweetness is from the red beans.

The elderly today is in a good mood so is very chatty. Unfortunately we couldn't fully understand the stories told to us as part of the speech sounds like mumblings to us. Took photos of the elderly posing with the watch ⌚ with new battery 🔋

Appetite is good and the elderly even walked alone to WC at Lan Je eatery because kid3 went to buy plasters.

Travelling Duck Set Lunch

On Tuesday 19.mar.2024, went to Midvalley Mall to do some errands.

12.51 noon - two sets of set lunch.

His duck meat noodles.

I ordered beef slices pineapple basmati rice.

The set includes 1 tea, 1 seaweed soup with 2 chicken paste meatballs, 1 steamed egg, 1 jelly soy creamer dessert with the main dish.

I like it though I was quite full after eating everything because I didn't bring a container.

He asked me why I order beef at a duck eatery.  I said I feel like eating beef slices. The beef slices taste good, beef taste is just detectable, not overpowering. he ate one slice of beef and says taste like sweet sour pork. 😂

1.53 pm - Total price is MYR 62.35 nett so each set lunch costs MYR 31.18 nett which is quite a good price although we didn't need to eat those desserts.

11.07 am - our usual kunyit boneless chicken mihun.

11.13 am - midvalley oriental Kopi starts at 8 am so the breakfast set ends at 10.30 am so we ordered ala carte Kaya butter toasts MYR 4.90++ and hot white coffee MYR 6.90++

Found old notes during packing so ask the vendor, does the vendor accept these old notes or not. Just accepted partly and received 365 30 which is quite good considering no one cares about these old notes for a long time.

Do you convert your overseas travelling funds back to local 💰 immediately when you get home or do you as this example shows, keep them hidden for people packing your place to find them in the future?

Bought this set for MYR 95 nett. Windsir is a local product I believe. 💯 Cotton.

Around 5 pm, he cooked yong sum so and chrysanthemum flowers drink and I ate all the yong sum so and chrysanthemum flowers because I saying to throw them away.

Nine Cafe n The Store

 On Monday 18.mar.2024, we started from home a bit after 9 am for an appointment at 9.30 am and was early so had to wait a while for the place to open. Going to streamline items. After the appointment was completed, crossed the road to eat brunch at Nine Cafe.

9.57 am - Breakfast Set A MYR 9.90 nett. Toast butter Kaya, half boiled eggs and hot coffee. Is this a typical local breakfast?

9.59 am - He loves eating half boiled eggs.

10.16 am - Nasi lemak with deep fried whole chicken leg MYR 16.90 nett. This is a good price. They deep fried the chicken leg only after the order is placed so customers need to wait at least 15 mins for this nasi lemak deep fried chicken leg to be ready.

10.22 am - He ordered one ala carte curry chicken MYR 10 nett for the curry gravy. The cold white coffee drink MYR 6.90 nett is not that sweet by default so it tastes good 😊💯

Total bill is MYR 43.70 nett.

11.07 am - the car was parked at The Store open air car park at MYR 2 nett per hour and they offer 2 hours free parking for MYR 30 spent in The Store so we went to The Store to buy the required amount of things.

11.10 am - we haven't been here since 2020. After the store, we went to park at the pinnacle and buy some items from the supermarket.

2.17 pm - there are two eggs with cracks on the shell so he cooked two lovely sunny side up eggs but I wailed and said I only eat cooked egg yolks so he turned his lovely sunny eggs into fully cooked eggs. We ate one each.

3.19 pm - I then ate the quarter avocado he kept for me since morning with one slice of bread.

11.59 pm - nine cafe total spending MYR 43.70 nett. Can visit this cafe again. We also noticed that nasi lemak bamboo eatery has been replaced by another shop.

On Sunday 17.mar.2024, it is our chapfan brunch day at tuck tuck tei Taman desa. Then sent 3 packs of 500g dark soy bean powder expiry date 30 December 2024 to my friend.

9.59 am - his pork slices, livers, choy sum vege soup without noodles MYR 9 nett. I ate one piece of liver with red chilies.

5.12 pm - he ate this MYR 10 nett roast chicken thigh and siew yuk for his dinner that I walked to buy for him from sky kopitiam while he was still eating the pork soup.

Green beans pastries

On Saturday 16.mar.2024, went to Swee Hing for brunch. He wanted to eat hot soupy food to warm the tummy so after ding ding dong dong a few rounds, he reluctantly settled on swee hing although he is the one who brought up swee hing first.

8.16 am - MYR 6.10 nett for iced cham and hot cham, both less sweet. 

MYR 11 nett for trotters wanton noodles with tiny pieces of deep fried lard aka ju yao zhar hidden in the noodles.

8.17 am - hand torn pan mee with sliced pork and requested no minced pork. Add extra yin choy so the price is MYR 10 nett.

9.28 am - suddenly felt like eating my favourite pastry which is green beans pastries or mung bean pastries so bought the above 3 items.

6 large pastries MYR 11 nett

Ban Heang mung bean pastries MYR 4.80 nett

One egg tart MYR 2.30 nett because I got exactly MYR 2.30 coins remaining so thought I would use them all up.

I bought and paid for ban Heang mung bean and then walked away. Then returned to buy the 6 large pastries from the coffee shop sitaopor and the sitaopor said to me, eh, you fat already. I said no and she said your face is fat. I am like 😶

Coins used today:

6.1+4.8+2.3=13.2

9.35 am - the egg tart he says taste like having margarine in it but I couldn't detect any special taste. Just acceptable.

The ban Heang green beans pastry is sweet and the green beans fillings taste ok.

The large green beans pastry has a more savoury deep fried shallots taste in the green beans paste fillings but overall taste is sweet. I can detect dried orange peel taste in the green beans paste fillings but he says there is none. He couldn't taste it. I guess we can only detect different taste.
