Leong Ya Kitchen Taman Desa

On Sunday 24.dec.2023, went Midvalley Mall as it is kid1 duty day and we need to use a MYR 10 voucher that is going to expire. Too many people in this mall so we ate lunch in a new eatery in Taman Desa.

*** Leong Ya Kitchen Taman Danau Desa ***

1.16 pm - signature fried rice long bean siew yuk anchovies MYR 16.90 nett which we shared because the portion is quite big. 2 pieces of leong ya paper wrapped chicken MYR 18.90 nett. The chicken is one drumstick each in one paper package.

A glass of Hainan coffee cold MYR 4.30 nett.

1.21 pm - we also ordered a small portion of steamed 3 types of eggs: eggs, century eggs, salted eggs MYR 18 nett. The steamed eggs texture is firm and they put sesame oil and soy sauce on top. Taste is ok.

The paper wrapped chicken drumstick tastes similar to lo Mai Kai without the lo Mai.

1.26 pm - my portion which is a lot of rice for me but I ate everything on my plate and was so full that I didn't eat anything else for this day.

1.53 pm - leong ya kitchen at Taman Danau Desa, started a few months ago. There are many branches of Leong Ya restaurants. The dishes are tasty so we will visit again. The dishes on my to-order list is yam basket and salted egg yolk squid.

After this lunch, we walked to pharmacy to buy a bottle of 3Legs Povidone Iodine 30 ml MYR 4 nett.

11.13 am - saw these two lions made from balloons. So creative.

*** AMAH Midvalley Mall ***

10.32 am - he wanted to eat at Nanyang Kopitiam but there was a long queue so he went next door to eat at AMAH. Just ordered one item MYR 17.10++ which we shared. I didn't drink the hot cham MYR 5.20++ 

Total price is MYR 22.30 nett.

Then bought Milo 2kg MYR 36.99 nett and nestum cereal MYR 7.80 nett for the elderly and used up the MYR 10 voucher. Didn't see anything to buy at the iwate fair so didn't use the MYR 10 off for MYR 50 purchase. Tried samples of jelly kuih-like red bean; sesame seeds; walnut and found them to be too sweet so didn't buy them.

Bought some items at Ace hardware. Also bought 3 sharpie pens and 2 packs of green and orange stickers MYR 16.25 nett from popular bookstore.

Mountain Hill Dine In

On Saturday 23.dec.2023, early morning he went over to prepare breakfast for the elderly. Then we went to Mountain Hill shed eatery at Taman Serangkai, happy garden for brunch and he bought fish paste dumplings mihun soup for the elderly's lunch. At 4.42 pm, he went to buy claypot chicken rice and soup for the elderly's dinner but the stall was closed so he went to Fatty Mok eatery instead and bought ytf and fried rice for the elderly's dinner.

11.07 am - cham ping less sweet drink MYR 3 nett. Two plates of chicken thighs total MYR 15 nett.

11.11 am - his meat mihun soup MYR 9 nett from Bobo pork noodle stall. He also bought takeaway fish paste dumplings mihun soup MYR 9 nett for the elderly's lunch from Freddie traditional fish ball noodle stall.

11.28 am - kuih MYR 4.50 nett. The top part has pumpkin in it. Taste nice, not that sweet but should sell in smaller portion for 1 pax to eat.

11.22 am - these two kuih that looks like angku with mung beans fillings MYR 3.50 nett gave me a shock as the mung bean fillings are savoury with taste of spice and I think I saw red chili bits in it. The fillings although is savoury has a tinge of sweet taste to it.

He ate only a bit of the kuih because he is still making more than one trip to the WC. Since I ate almost all the kuih, I walked 1700m to collect my item delivered to a collection center to try to burn some calories.

Frozen Cooked Rice

On Friday 22.dec.2023, he is still not feeling well, having to make 3 trips to the WC in the morning so went to pharmacy to buy activated charcoal and rehydration salts. Ate brunch and then went to care center to drop off items including 2 packs because they use around 5 pieces or more per day. One Teena M size pack has only 10 pieces MYR 17.50 nett.

*** Clear Freezer Food ***

1.33 pm - I ate the remaining two containers full of frozen cooked rice from about 1 month ago from the elderly's dinner that wasn't eaten. The above photo was taken after I have eaten most of the frozen rice from the container on the right. Both containers are filled to the brim so that was quite a lot of rice and I ate them all with nuts. I just pour hot water onto the frozen rice so the hot water turned cold and the frozen rice is no longer frozen and ate them as cold dessert.

This number is in line with those studies that say freezing turns starch into resistant starch which has lower calories. That is why the number went lower although I ate two full containers of rice because they are frozen rice with starch that has turned to resistant starch.

12 noon to 12.30 noon - remove previous item that has a faulty ballast and put in this new one.

7.48 am ish reading 14.2 which is high as it was taken before breakfast so he advises the elderly to not eat too much simple carb food such as biscuits. It has been high for the past 3 days because the elderly always feel hungry and is snacking and the elderly's system is not responding to the max diabetic meds. Last resort is to request doctor to inject insulin and the care center needs to test blood sugar and calculate the amount of insulin to inject every day.

11 to 11.30 am - at care center. He talked to the elderly's room mate's son. The room mate is 92 and has dementia, always mumbling which the elderly finds very noisy. The son said he no longer brings his mother to regular specialists consultation. Just let the care center doctor manage his mother's meds and well being so his mother doesn't need to commute to hospitals.

11.30 am - elderly walked out and ate lunch but couldn't remember what was eaten and how much when kid1 called to inform about the lunch she sent.

Cold crunchy fried rice

On Thursday 21.dec.2023, went to park at pinnacle condo and walked to Fatty Mixed Rice to eat brunch and to buy lunch for the Elderly. He is still not feeling that well.

Primer

On Wednesday 20.dec.2023, he was not feeling well since yesterday afternoon, having chills and a bit of fever with diarrhea and stomach cramps. After he ate Panadol and po chai Yun, we went to Dwitasik to give the referral letter from hospital and get an appointment date for the elderly to followup as per the discharge instructions.

My omad of salad with salmon from salad atelier, about MYR 29 nett inclusive of shopeefood delivery fees. He requested for bananas so I bought half a bunch of ripe 10 bananas berangan and a pack of chestnuts MYR 16 nett inclusive of shopeefood delivery.

On Tuesday 19.dec.2023, early morning, he went over to prepare breakfast but the elderly was already locking the gate to go out when he arrived so he took the elderly to eat congee at Tim Won coffee shop. He ordered hot cham and half boiled eggs and shared kaya margerine toasts with the elderly. The elderly ordered two bowls of congee so he asked the seller to pack up the extra bowl of congee and brought it home.

11.15 am - my omad. We shared all the food in the photo above and ordered fried rice mantis prawn for the elderly's lunch. Also gave the elderly extra salted egg yolk mantis prawns from our dish.

The sang har is fresh with roe in the head.

11.03 am - I saw these kuih and couldn't resist so bought 3 packs. He tried a bit of each kuih and I ate all of them. MYR 2.80 nett for each pack. I like the taste of these kuih. Not very sweet.

11.05 am - the embossed words are Mami sisters which I think is the brand's name.

Seafood Tofu

On Monday 18.dec.2023, the elderly was discharged in the evening after 5 nights in the hospital.

8 pm - after sending the elderly back to the care center at about 7 pm, it rained heavily so after the rain, he ordered salted vege duck soup MYR 7.50 nett and we shared a dish of seafood tofu MYR 22 nett without rice which has tofu, fish slices, sweet peas, carrots, squids and prawns. I like the tofu.

After walking about 1.5 km 30 minutes from Encore Cafe Taman Desa to Sing Kee Kitchen Taman Desa.

10.45 am - 2 chapfan no rice with one glass of iced cham drink MYR 19 nett.

Discharged after 5 nights. Kid1 parked the car at the hospital to help out with the discharge. He took the wheelchair from care center and grab there to pick up the elderly and send by grab back to the care center.

The diagnosis is NSTEMI with Fast AF.

Add a new med: t spironolactone as diuretics.

The elderly's heart has the will power 💪 to go on despite having heart disease and a pace maker. Just need to make sure the right food is eaten not to get diarrhea so that the elderly won't have electrolytes imbalance and cause distress to the body until heart rate went up to 170 ish and cause burden on the heart. But food is one of the only thing the elderly is looking forward to so it is a difficult target to achieve.

The previous discharge lasted 9 nights before this admission which lasted 5 nights so 🙏 no need to admit again any time soon.
