Thali Set

A Thali Set at MYR 31.90+ (10% service charge = MYR 35.09 nett). This set consists of (clockwise):
1. Fish Curry
2. Chicken Curry (Kadai Chicken)
3. Lamb Curry (Lamb Roganjosh)
4. Potato Curry (Alo Mutter)
5. Okra Onion Stir Fry (Bindi do Pyaaza)
6. Tomato Dal (Tomato Pappu Dal)
7. Phirni dessert
I ate all of the dessert but only a bit of the rice, butter naan, each of the savoury dishes and kept most of it for my other meals. The lamb is tender and the curries are very flavourful with the taste of different spices so I will definitely be back for their other dishes.

This Phirni dessert is prepared using milk and ground rice. It is slightly sweet and has a thick creamy texture.

For October 2018, there is a 10% discount for all food items. I had lunch all by myself on this day.

Khan's Restaurant and Cafe at The Sphere, Kerinchi/Bangsar South.

I will be back to try the Mango Lassi.

This Daily Special Lunch Menu has the exact date printed on it. So does it mean that they print this menu every single day?

Will try this lamb biryani one day.

The vegetarian thali set sounds good too.

Will try the palak paneer too as I like to eat cottage cheese in smooth creamy mashed spinach. What would you like to try at this restaurant?

Oh Ipoh Cafe

Last Sunday, Friendship Cafe coffee shop at Taman Esplanad, Bukit Jalil was having their rest day and Starry coffee shop was fully occupied so we walked around the area and saw a new cafe selling food from Ipoh. The air-cond seating area was fully occupied but we got a table after waiting for a while.

Chicken Hor Fun Soup Special at MYR 11.50 nett and a cup of white coffee at MYR 4 nett. The chicken meat was silky smooth and tasty. Are these prices similar to prices in Ipoh?

Yong Tofu aka stuffed beancurd with fish paste fillings (2 pieces) at MYR 5 nett served in a bowl of chicken soup. The beancurd/tofu has been deep fried and the texture is quite firm.

The cafe also sells dry goods from Ipoh so we bought a pack of 8pcs of Hiong Piah (crispy pastry with gooey maltose fillings) made by Yee Hup.

Total is MYR 31.40 nett for 2 pax inclusive of the pack of Yee Hup Pastry. Payment can be made via the local Boost app (mobile wallet).

Colourful backdrop behind the cashier counter.

Storefront - corner shop lot

The full menu consists of these 5 pages. We ordered item A4. Is Buntong famous for beansprouts (Taugeh)?

They serve wan tan mee, char siew and siew yuk too.

We ordered item H11 and maybe during future visits, we will order Fried Sengkuang Cake and meat balls.

Is Ipoh Style Fruit Rojak different from Penang and KL fruit rojak? Maybe one day I will order this to find out. Item J3 is Crispy Beancurd sheets for Rojak at MYR 3 nett to be added on to the Rojak.

Last page of the menu: La Za Rice - many ingredients mixed together with rice - and Jumbo Curry which has many of ingredients as toppings. Both items have reasonable prices at MYR 12.50 nett and MYR 13.5 nett respectively but I don't think I will be trying these dishes because the portion is just too much for me.

Champs

After reading PH's reviews about the fantastic food at the Champ's at the food court - A Foodie's Nest at Starling Mall, I brought my spouse to try the Chee Yok Fun (soup) with egg at MYR 17.50 nett. The broth is super rich just like how PH described it to be. The broth even has the taste of the much sought-after wok hei. It is so thick and rich that I can only stomach one tablespoon of it.

We also tried PH's other recommendation - the Wat Tan Hor from Champ's at MYR 18.50 nett. It has 3 big prawns which I like. My friend said that the noodles (Hor Fun) in the Wat Tan Hor is not enough for her. The portion of noodles is too small although the portion of the overall dish inclusive of the gravy and toppings is big. It is full of wok hei so many people would like it.

My other friend had the pork knuckle rice set (MYR 15.20 nett) from the Pin Qian Klang Bak Kut Teh stall next to Champ's which PH also reviewed. She likes the thick herbal broth. I tried one spoonful of the broth and find it to be very tasty with a strong Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis) taste which I also like.

Nett prices on the menus with no extra charges or taxes.

On On BKT no more

Seems like in the middle of this year (2018),  On On Bak Kut Teh at Taman Esplanade, Bukit Jalil has been replaced by Starry Coffee Shop. So far, I don't think I have eaten there yet as I always eat at Friendship Cafe which is very nearby.

Organic Mung Bean Biscuits

5 pieces in 1 packet for MYR 6.70 nett.

Not that sweet so I like it.

I bought this packet of Organic Mungbean biscuits from Medifoods, PJ. I like eating mung bean biscuits so I will most likely buy them when I see them if they are not too expensive.

I have also bought a packet of organic mungbean biscuits from another brand from Organic Express, PJ at a much lower price of MYR 4.90 nett for 5 pieces previously and they are quite acceptable too.

Still tasty

Meraki food delivery again. I selected the fish option as usual for MYR 22 nett. They did not provide a separate container of dressing this time and my friends found the brown rice to be a little too dry without additional dressing but I am ok with it as I never use their extra dressing anyway. Fish cubes, baked potatoes (the darker coloured pieces in the photo above), brown rice, tomato and cucumber cubes.

WG Teow Chew Meng

This lunch is before 1 Sept 2018.

My friends shared this big pot of seafood Teow Chew congee at MYR 30 nett. 3 of us also ordered a portion of deep fried prawn paste and egg mix for sharing at MYR 12 nett. We thought we would be able to see individual pieces of prawns in it but no, the prawns are in paste form so I don't think we will order this item again.

My bowl of fish slice noodles at MYR 15 nett. I select instant noodles as I have a weakness for them. :) Other options are mee hoon, hor fun, yellow mee and yee mee I think. Quite a decent bowl of fish slice noodles so I may have this again.

Teow Chew Meng at SS2, PJ, located at the other end of the same row of shops as Medifoods.

Total bill for 3 pax is MYR 57 nett.
