Big Intestine

On Friday 23.feb.2024, went to off lights and then to brunch at Swee Hing coffee shop. At 6.30 pm, took a 9 mins x 2 walk to on lights.

*** Swee Hing Sri Petaling ***

8.09 am - his pork noodles soup MYR 9 nett. The pork noodles stall seems to have changed the operator because the people running it are different and the pork noodles taste not as murky flavourful as previously. We shared a glass of iced cham aka coffee mixed tea MYR 3.40 nett.

8.36 am - I ordered two dishes: rojak and chee Cheong fun and arranged the two plates nicely side by side to take a photo. Not sure how I got distracted after arranging the two plates so we ended up eating all the chee Cheong fun before I realised that I didn't take a photo 🤦🏻‍♀️so I quickly took a photo of half eaten food.

Rojak MYR 9 nett.

Chee Cheong fun MYR 11.20 nett for 5 ytf:

beancurd sheet, brinjal, okra, bitter gourd, long beans and half a sheet of chee Cheong fun.

*** Clear Fridge Food ***

Food that needs to be eaten:

1. Toh guan bkt from 3 days ago, bought on Tue.

2. Mbpj duck bought 1 week ago on last Friday.

3. Frozen mango seed from 2 days ago, mango was cut on wed 

4. Iced cham drink from Hong Fu Dim sum bought 2 days ago on wed.

At about 3 pm, he reheated the remaining yam rice and bkt soup from 3 days ago and ate them leaving some bkt soup for me to cook frozen bunapi mushrooms.

I then washed the frozen raw bunapi mushrooms he bought for the elderly cny meals but the elderly doesn't eat mushrooms so there are remaining raw mushrooms which I put in the freezer because raw mushrooms don't keep well for long in the fridge. He then add drinking plain water into his remaining bkt soup and put in the 6 pieces of frozen mbpj duck meat with the frozen raw bunapi mushrooms and bring the bkt soup to a boil. I then ate all the bunapi mushrooms and duck meat and drank all the diluted bkt soup.

3.45 pm - this is a piece of braised Ju dai Cheong aka big intestine bought from the mbpj duck stall. I don't eat big intestines because of their aftertaste. Somehow by mistake, the mbpj duck stall packed a packet of braised big intestines and included the price in the total price of MYR 74.50 nett that I paid for all the food I bought from mbpj duck stall so I have to eat them in order not to waste food. 

There are a total of 6 pieces of braised big intestines remaining so I ate all of them with one slice of wholemeal bread and all the remaining pickled green chillies that were included in a takeaway wanton noodles soup order bought a long long time ago. Luckily the pickled green chillies made the braised big intestines taste tolerable. He said he prefers to eat deep fried big intestines and not these braised big intestines so I had to eat these braised ones since I accidentally bought them.

3.55 pm - almost everyone likes to eat sweet mangoes but almost no one likes to eat the remaining mango meat sticking on the seed. In my household, only I am patient enough to ngaw all the remaining mango meat from its seed. Two days ago, I have reached my sugar intake limit so I couldn't eat this mango seed so I put it in the freezer. Frozen mango seed that has been thawed slightly taste just as good as fresh ones.

4.51 pm - drank all the remaining cham from Hong Fu Dim Sum eatery. So I wrapped up my  food intake for this day at 5 pm.

Spring Camp

On Thursday 22.feb.2024, he went over early to prepare breakfast for the elderly. I walked over at about 10 am and all 3 went for early lunch. Then it is check in time for the elderly at 12 noon. Kid1 arrived at the spring camp because wanted to see the place. Hope the elderly enjoys this staycation.

*** Old Nanyang Kopi & Toast Esplanad ***

10.37 am - The two hot cham aka coffee mix tea drinks are included in the century egg and chicken congee set MYR 12.90+ each set. I ordered 3 treasures crispy lard rice MYR 18.90+ which has 3 pieces of siew yuk, saba fish and smoked duck so I gave 2 pieces of siew yuk to the elderly and 1 piece of siew yuk to kid3. I gave all the crispy lard to the elderly and kid3 because they like to eat crispy lard. I ate the rice and finished off kid3's congee.

10.39 am - Kid3 asked the elderly what to order and the elderly replied same as you so kid3 ordered 2 sets of congee because kid3 is afraid if ordered different, the elderly will ask why the food is not the same as per the reply. The bowl of congee is quite a lot so as expected the elderly ate half the congee only and we walked away from the remaining half.

10.52 am - Wanted to order char siew bao but they are sold out so ordered har gao aka prawn dumplings MYR 9.90+ instead. After that we have time before 12 noon so asked the elderly to choose a dessert.

11.14 am - The elderly chose longan hasma tong sui MYR 11.90+ so kid3 bought the same. I just ate the longan and drank the syrup water because I don't care for the hasma. Just tried one piece of the hasma. The elderly shared one bowl of this tong sui with kid3 so kid3 ate 1 full bowl as he also shared one bowl with me. This is a chilled tong sui.

11.40 am - Total price for 3 pax: MYR 86.25 nett.

*** Ko Kan Coffee Shop ***

1.43 pm - After checking in the elderly, kid3 ate this plate of char siew and roast duck thigh, total MYR 17 nett and we shared one iced Cham drink MYR 3.50 nett. I didn't eat any meat. Just drank some of the iced cham and my omad is completed.

Hong Fu Dim Sum Sri Petaling

On Wednesday 21.feb.2024, wanted to go mrdiy Sri Petaling so went to eat brunch at the dim sum eatery behind it. We noticed this dim sum eatery having a queue during CNY.

*** My Omad ***

10.31 am - boat Congee MYR 13.50++ has squid in it. Malai cake MYR 5.5++ has a very eggy taste.

Shrimp rolls MYR 8++ are very crispy.

Scallop dumplings MYR 7.50 ++

10.34 am - siu mai MYR 8++ has quite firm minced meat fillings.

10.32 am - char siew bao MYR 7++ has sweet caramelized meat in it.

10.46 am - cross section of char siew bao.

10.22 am - hot cham MYR 3.5++ tastes thick and rich. Cold cham MYR 5++ has a bit of Nutella hazelnut taste.

Egg tart MYR 3++ tastes good.

Teow chew Su MYR 2.80++ has crispy multilayers pastry skin.

10.55 am - the fillings of teow chew pastry are gooey sticky sweet melon paste I believe.

10.28 am - mango pomelo dessert MYR 7.5++, just sweet enough, authentic mango taste, not fake cordial mango flavour taste.

11.32 am - total price is MYR 82.70 nett for 11 items so average is about MYR 7.5 per item. I asked the cashier when this eatery started business at this location and the reply was about 1.5 years ago.

11.33 am - entrance of Hong Fu Dim Sum Sri petaling.

*** Lunch and Dinner ***

11.39 am - waiting for food to takeaway from YiPoh eatery which is in the same row of shops as the dim sum eatery.

12.01 noon - ate all noodles and vegetable. Left one piece of red char siew.

6.46 pm - the usual fried rice stall ws is closed so went to golden dragon to buy fried rice which both said the wok hei taste is good 👍 😋the elderly ate all rice. Diy marmite soup.

Nasi Ayam Kam Kee

On Tuesday 20.feb.2024, went over 3x and went out with the elderly for lunch.

10.59 am - the salty sour spicy vege dish is quite spicy so I put it in the soup to wash off the gravy and then only eat them.

10.53 am - the char siew and siew yuk have layers of fats but both meat are for people with strong teeth as both types of meat are firm. The elderly who used to frequent this eatery before the pandemic says that the steamed kampung chicken tastes as good as before.

The pork meatballs are tasty and I like the taste of the curry mutton which is creamy, a bit spicy and tastes like rendang curry which is on the sweet side.

11.45 am - Total price for 3 pax is MYR 61.90 nett. The cashier recognized the elderly.

Durian2024

On Monday 19.feb.2024, early morning we went to the hospital to get an appointment date for a brain CT scan for the elderly. Got a date at the end of May so reschedule the geriatrics appointment to early June after the brain scan.

*** Hou's Kopitiam Taman Continental ***

9.54 am - his order: curry noodles MYR 18.80 nett. He chose wanton noodles which I like because they are thin and al dente wanton noodles so they are very easy to chew and swallow. This curry noodles dish is worth it because it has many ingredients such as cockles, siew yuk and char siew to name a few. Not spicy at all, just creamy.

9.56 am - I ordered my usual iced salted butter coffee drink MYR 5 nett which is thick and rich until it made me feel very full. He ordered ho Ka sai cold drink MYR 5 nett which I think is supposed to be Milo, coffee and tea but I can only taste the Milo in this drink as I need to drink it as he couldn't finish it.

10.04 am - I ordered a plate of 5 pieces of crunchy chicken fillets MYR 12.90 nett because I don't want to eat any simple carbs for my main order after eating his remaining curry noodles. The coating is similar to Taiwan big crunchy fried chicken chop. Not oily so I suspect maybe they are air fried. He ate 2 pieces and I ate 3 pieces so I was quite full from this brunch and my omad is completed with this brunch.

10.21 am - the chicken fillets are lean tender chicken breast meat which I like.

9.51 am to 10.38 am - just about 50 minutes for our brunch. Total price is MYR 41.70 nett for 2 pax.

*** Chit Chat Food ***

At about 12.30 noon, I received a message from my friend who is around the vicinity so I walked out to meet her for a chit chat to catch up.

1.33 pm - after she ate her lunch, I suggested going to Seven Canteen eatery to continue our chat. I ordered iced coffee O Kosong which is light and refreshing with a tiny tinge of sour taste so can order this coffee again next time.

I also ordered a croissant 🥐 with butter and Kaya which is passable. She ordered a hot honey lemon drink. Total price for 3 items is MYR 15 nett which I paid with TNG. We chatted from 12.50 noon till 3.30 pm. Then I walked home.

*** Durian Chen SSG ***

3.36 pm - I walked past this durian stall and the durian called out to me at MYR 55 per kg so I stopped by to eat one durian after one whole year 2023 of not eating durians. Bought one durian at MYR 60 nett and sat at the stall to eat it all, there and then. The seeds are flat and small. The durian is a creamy but just a bit on the sticky dry side. There is a seed with flower so they replaced it with another seed which has watery bitter flesh.

3.51 pm - I ate a total of 11 seeds all by myself. Then at 6.30 pm, after a botched job of testing blood sugar with the final remaining strip, we went to the nearby pharmacy to buy new strips but they are out of stock so I did a blood sugar test at the pharmacy itself for MYR 3 nett and the reading is 6.8 mmol/L so I am still ok to eat one durian on my own.

*** Lunch and dinner ***

11.03 am - he bought wanton noodles soup from new Lian hin. He walked there from hou's kopitiam. The elderly ate everything except for 1.5 leaves of nai Pak.

6.45 pm - he cooked one vit noodles with egg, lettuce and pork trotter meat. The elderly ate everything except for the soup so soup wanton and vit noodles are favourites.
