Oreo Sandwich Ice Cream

Tuesday 23.2.21 CNY Day 12. Eat more cookies to clear them is the plan. 😋

Bought this Oreo Cookie Sandwich Ice Cream from Family Mart. Not sure how much it costs. A check on Nestle official store online shows that it sells a box with 10 pieces at MYR 49 which means it is MYR 4.90 Nett per piece.

Cross section. The cookie is soft and the ice cream fillings are sweet and cold. Worth to try for Oreo cookies fans.

Surprisingly it is made in Thailand because I have seen other ice creams by Nestle that are made locally.

Size comparison - just a bit bigger than a standard size tablespoon.

Updated with photo taken on 24.mar.21 from FamilyMart so this Oreo Sandwich Ice Cream costs MYR 5.20 since it is bought from FamilyMart.

Sunday Noodles

Monday 22.2.21 CNY Day 11 - we are staying home all day with no delivery because we have to clear all the food we bought yesterday from the fridge.

Yesterday, Sunday 21.2.21 CNY Day 10, we went to Ming Hin Coffee Shop at Lucky Garden, Bangsar to buy takeaway food especially the dry 3jc mihun mixed hor fun. Ming Hin Coffee Shop used to be known as Sun Huat Kee Coffee Shop.

11.42 am - Mee Jawa at MYR 7 nett. I kept all the yellow noodles for the next day and only put a swirl of yellow noodles here. There are two types of fritters, half a hard boiled egg, a few slices of bean curd, coriander, beansprouts and a lime. There are no boiled potatoes which I like so I prefer Sepetang coffee shop's Mee jawa to this one.

I put just enough gravy into this dish and kept the remaining gravy in the fridge. The gravy is not thick and taste sweet and sour with a tiny tiny tinge of spiciness.

10.30 am. Shared this Dry 3jc mihun mixed horfun for MYR 7 Nett. We went to this coffee shop just for this dish because I like the gooey texture of the mihun mixed with horfun and he likes the taste of the dark soy sauce used to mix the noodles together with a tinge of bitterness and caramel taste. I ate my portion at 6.50 pm.

6.40 pm - our shared dinner of wanton noodles with Wantons and char siew at MYR 6.50 Nett bought from Chun Heong coffee shop which is a few shop lots away from Ming Hin coffee shop. The above is my portion. Just 3 mouthfuls but is very satisfying and enough since I am eating my portion of 3jc too.

10.14 am - char siew and siew yuk without rice from Ming Hin coffee shop at MYR 7 Nett.

10.14 am - both of us shared this curry mihun mixed with yellow noodles for lunch from Ming Hin at MYR 7.50 nett. The curry gravy is slightly sweet but I find it salty with only a tinge of spiciness. Not spicy so it is suitable for me. The toppings are taopok, pork skin, cockles, chicken meat, long bean, beansprouts, and brinjals. More ingredients than the curry Mee from New Lian Hin coffee shop but the curry gravy from New Lian Hin has the fragrance of lemongrass so we prefer the latter curry gravy. So Sunday is all about noodles.

 *** Monday 22.2.21 CNY Day 11 ***
*** Clear Noodles Day ***

9.30 am - remaining of the 2 of 2 wownana banana bread. Supposed to keep for one week in the fridge so today is the day 8 so we better eat it all.

9.40 am - I can only manage to eat this small portion before feeling full. The banana bread is very dense so it fills up the hunger with just a small portion. One more day and it will be cleared.

11.44 am - shared the 2 of 2 pack of dry 3jc mihun mix hor fun from Ming Hin coffee shop.

5.18 pm - I have to clear the yellow Mee, curry gravy and chicken breast meat. The roast chicken breast meat is bought from Chun Heong coffee shop yesterday at MYR 5 Nett.

I cut up the chicken breast meat.

5.36 pm - Ming Hin Bamboo noodles at MYR 7 Nett. The noodles is quite similar to wanton noodles. We heated up the noodles in the remaining curry gravy but we couldn't taste the curry grave after that due to the strong dark gravy of the bamboo noodles.

6.21 pm - the last bit of the yellow noodles mixed with the Mee jawa gravy.

Ban Heang Signature Laksa Puff

Sunday 21.2.21 CNY Day 10 - a day to go out and buy takeaway food. We are still not dining out yet. Yesterday we went out once to buy takeaway food and stayed home the rest of the time.

On Friday 19.2.21 CNY Day 8, I got the chance to buy the Signature Laksa Puff that I mentioned in Dec 2020.

The signature laksa Puff contains laksa noodles.

This is the Ban Heang kiosk in Midvalley Mall. It opened for business in Dec 2020.

I see the Laksa Puff - only two are available at that time so I bought both of them at MYR 5 each with a free hot drink - white coffee, black coffee or tea so I chose two white coffee drinks.

Size comparison by putting a standard size fork next to it

Thin pastry skin. Lots of fillings.

Can you spot the few strands of laksa noodles? Can clearly see a piece of chicken breast meat with lots of tuna flakes surrounding it. Just a little spicy, more sweet with laksa lemongrass taste. It is worth a try with the free hot drink at MYR 5 Nett for each set of puff and hot drink.

We also bought 2 Chicken curry puffs with a free hot drink each in which we selected two black coffee drinks. He prefers this chicken curry puff with a small wedge of hard-boiled eggs in it than the laksa Puff. I guess it is because the taste of curry puff is more familiar to him.

After buying groceries at Midvalley Mall, we were very hungry but we don't want to dine in so we quickly buy 5 small siu mai and 10 mini char siew baos to eat immediately inside our car in the car park from the BOD kiosk as there is no queue. I like that now they accept credit card payment.

Two mini siu mai out of the five. MYR 5.60+ 6% set.

6 mini char siew bao out of 10 so we ate 4 in the car. MYR 15.90+6%sst.

Cross section showing a lot of lean meat in the tiny bao.

Ban Heang accepts credit card payments too.

When in Aeon Supermarket, I can't help myself when I saw Aeon pandan layer cake at the outside bakery section so I bought two packs at a promo price of MYR 9.90 Nett. Normal price is MYR 5.47 for one pack. At 3 pm, I ate some of the pandan layer cake with Ban Heang foc white coffee. I just love the texture of the hoen kwe pandan layer part of the cake and that it is not that sweet. Although RT Pastry and TK Bakeries' pandan layer cakes are of better quality, I still prefer to eat Aeon pandan layer cake due to the texture of the pandan layer and the fact that it is not that sweet. I will buy it again the next time I go to Aeon Supermarket.

Midvalley after 89 days

Saturday 20.2.21 is CNY Day 9 where Hokkiens bai tian gong aka pray to the Jade Emperor. The fireworks and prayers start on the night of CNY Day 8. During the day of CNY Day 8, I spotted street vendors selling long sugar canes tied together with red ribbons to be used for the prayers.

Yesterday I went to Midvalley Mall to buy groceries after my previous trip there on Sunday 22.11.20 which is 89 days ago.

As it was a weekday, there wasn't that many people around but the shops are all opened for business. There are new shops too. We didn't dine in, just buy takeaway food after buying the groceries.

CNY decor for Midvalley Mall. Very clean lines and minimalist, refreshing to the eyes.

The Gardens Mall just put up red ribbon banners to make it look like a big lantern hanging up there.

Saw this Tiffany light blue cake at Tokyo Secret Cafe. Don't think I can eat a cake with this light blue colour.

Nene chicken is now Mala Mala. Back in July 2020, Nene chicken restaurant was closed.

Honolulu Cafe is now replaced by Sushi Jiro.

Happy to see Hazukido  croissants being sold here.

Ban Heang kiosk. I stopped by here to buy the assam laksa Puff. Will be in my next post.

RGB Pizza buy 2 foc 1

Friday 19.2.21 is CNY Day 8 which means another 7 days to go before Chap Goh Mei.

*** Saturday 6.2.21 RGB Pizza Delivery ***

I bought 2 pizzas from RGB cafe because of the buy 2 get 1 free margherita pizza promo and two vegan desserts - cinnamon buns and chocolate cinnamon cookies.

https://www.happycow.net/reviews/rawcoffee-kuala-lumpur-47954

Mentioned this cafe as quoted below:

"RAWcoffee moved out of Wisma Equity Building and rebranded as RGB & The Bean Hive. It's a coffee roastery and cafe set in a quiet area off Jalan Damai. The vegetarian & vegan items are marked on the menu and include veggie wraps and sandwiches, and deli salads as well as baked goods and vegan cakes."

The foc margherita pizza worth MYR 22 net. The pizza base is made from whole wheat and semolina flour so the texture is nicer than plain flour.

Two cinnamon rolls at MYR 8.50 Nett each. No butter used.

Free delivery so the total is MYR 105 Nett.

3 Pizza boxes, 2 cinnamon rolls boxes and 1 zip lock paper bag of 5 cinnamon chocolate cookies that costs MYR 20 Nett.

Beef brisket pizza at MYR 33 Nett.  Tasty with lots of beef brisket.

Lamb kofta pizza at MYR 35 Nett. There are cubes of feta cheese and long chili with stalks still on. Taste good. I gave half of all 3 pizzas to my friend.

The cinnamon chocolate chip cookie next to a teaspoon for size comparison.

Cross section. This vegan cookie is very powdery.

The cinnamon roll is soft and sticky with lots of walnut and raisin inside it.

*** Thursday 18.2.21 CNY Day 7 ***

9 am - shared breakfast of 3jc mihun bought on wed from choy kee coffee shop at MYR 6.50 Nett.
1 pm. On CNY Day 7, we didn't lou sang but we ate the frozen waxed meat rice from zun kitchen of eu yan sang. The flavourful rice has texture like glutinous rice with waxed duck meat, waxed sausage and waxed liver sausage so we like it. We used to eat this Zun waxed meat rice aka Lap Mei Fan every CNY at Zun restaurant when it was operating in Midvalley Mall. Do you eat Lap Mei Fan every CNY?
