After making a
not-good-choice for lunch at Purple Cane previously, this time I have no idea what to order so ended up ordering just two tea eggs (MYR 3.90++ = MYR 4.52 nett) and a bowl of brown rice (MYR 4++ = MYR 4.64 nett) making it a total of MYR 9.16 nett just for eggs and rice which I can prepare at home even for someone who does not cook. I guess this is not a good choice too. The tiny deep fried anchovies were from my friend's fried rice which she gave to me because of their tiny eyes staring at her.
Total bill for 2 pax is MYR 42.55 nett. This eatery charges 6% SST in addition to 10% service charge.
Why you have no idea of what to order, is it because there are limited choices in the menu?
ReplyDeleteThere are many choices but I just don't want to pay for those food that I don't feel like eating and am not attracted to eat. They charge more for the dishes because they put expensive tea leaves inside and I don't care for the taste of tea leaves in my food.
DeleteI tried the herbal eggs at one steamboat place here, it was all right, did not get me all excited. Maybe I should go for those sold outside some Chinese medicine shop, probably stronger on the herbs.
ReplyDeleteI think you prefer poached eggs with runny yolks better. There is a limit on how much herb taste can stick onto the hard boiled eggs.
DeleteAiyo this place and you just don't get along. Expensive meal no good, cheap also no good.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are right but my friend just likes to eat there for their small teapot of tea soup.
DeleteThe tea egg as in 茶叶蛋? My man loves that and every time he cooks at home, I want to faint because of the strong smell. I dont like the herbal smell. I prefer him to go out and eat. Haha.
ReplyDeleteBut on other hand, I like that deep fried small anchovies. I used to buy and use in cooking especially in vegetable or just fry it with onion. But it isn't cheap. Hardly see anyone serving in coffee shops or restaurants over here.
Yes, you are right. tea egg is 茶叶蛋. I am ok with deep fried small anchovies. What did your husband use to cook tea eggs that make the smell so strong?
Deletemost of the time, in slow cooker
DeleteOh, I mean what ingredients that caused the strong smell.
