2021 Win Heng Seng Imbi

Suddenly he felt like eating his favourite pork noodles from Imbi so yesterday Sat 15.may.21 we went to Win Heng Seng at 7.49 am to buy takeaway. Initially, I was the only customer there since it was early. Then slowly the customers trickled in to buy takeaways. Just one handful, not many.

The 3jc stall. We bought one pack of mihun and one pack of kway teow at MYR 8 nett each for a regular portion. Both are dry versions.

Bought a pack of Kai see hor fun from the stall next to the ckt stall and added two prawn Wantons to it at a total of MYR 11 nett. A young man has taken over the ckt stall and I bought a pack of ckt at MYR 8 nett from him.

Oh no! The pork noodles that he felt like eating is not available. The stall is closed. I asked the coffee shop staff and was told when no dine in, the boss of this stall doesn't want to operate because his pork noodles is best eaten onsite and he felt his business is very little during no dine in period so it is not worth his time to stay open so close it is. That's his decision. Too bad for us.

The mini egg tart stall is not opened too. Guess we need to visit here when dine in is allowed to buy takeaway for the pork noodles. Our previous visit is in June 2019 but our next visit will not be in another 2 years but it will depend on when dine in is allowed again.

The ckt. There are about 3 prawns. Some spots are spicy as I forgot to specify to omit the chilies.

The prawn wanton in the Kai see hor fun which looks like a sui gao. Tastes quite ok with a prawn inside and some minced meat which felt like those minced vegetarian meat.

The Kai see hor fun soup is very flavourful, full of prawns taste. As I didn't feel very thirsty after that, I think not much MSG is used.

  1. Good that you did not feel thirsty. That would be an indication that little or no msg was used - sometimes ingredients like prawns may give that umami taste, no need to add and not to be mistaken as msg.

  3. So disappointing that the pork noodle stall was closed. I think it might be a while before we can dine out again. I am already missing restaurant food but I think I will wait since some food do taste better when eaten at the restaurant.

  6. Yes, MSG makes us thirsty, and since this does not, they really use the ingredients to sweeten the soup...

    1. Hope so. But for some people, msg will not make them thirsty.

  8. If you go all the way just for one thing, finding it closed can really make your heart skip a beat. It's probably not possible to check on the net before going either. At least you did get other goodies.

    1. Encounter this a few times. If the place is far away, the disappointment is greater.
