Best Beef Shanks

On Monday 11.nov.2024, he wanted to go to a far away eatery called Makan Time at Kota Damansara for authentic cendol and he said to take feeder buses and MRT there so I woke up early.

He said after Makan Time we can go to 1u to eat deep fried pork ribs nasi lemak at Lax Lax 1u and so we did that too until I was so full that I couldn't stand up straight because my stomach is stretched out too much and standing upright is very painful for my tummy.

*** Makan Time

9.08 am - very tasty beef shanks that melt in the mouth πŸ˜‹ the soup has a bit of smokey spices with daun sup. MYR 12 nett. I drank all the beef soup.

8.55 am - roti kahwin kaya butter MYR 5.50 nett and hot coffee MYR 5.20 nett. I didn't drink the coffee because I drank all the beef soup. The kaya is made from duck egg so is more flavourful. The bread is crispy outside and soft inside.

8.57 am - my cendol MYR 7 nett which he recommends to me.

8.57 am - size comparison

9 am - I ordered this noodle dish because it is the daily special dish. Name is Burmese mohingar MYR 16 nett. Tasty flavourful soup which I also drank almost all of it.

Wiki says and I quote:
"Mohinga is fish soup made with rice noodles, typically served as a hearty breakfast. It features a rich broth flavored with lemongrass, turmeric, and fish sauce, often garnished with boiled eggs, cilantro, and crispy fritters."

9.08 am - nasi kerabu kerutuk ayam MYR 19 nett. He let me eat a big portion of the tender chicken and half of the rice and salted egg.

9.27 am - his cendol MYR 7 nett. He likes the taste of this cendol a lot. He says the green cendol is like smaller soft lau shu fen and tastes like kuih talam with pandan, no bitter taste. The gula melaka has coconut taste with no sourish taste. This shop makes their own cendol so it gets sold out very quickly daily.

9.09 am - very flavourful  soup with lots of noodles that are similar to mi Xian. I drank almost all the soup.

9.46 am - total MYR 71.70 nett

8.53 am - interior

8.49 am - shopfront with lots of greenery

6.47 am - early on feeder bus so not many people

*** Lax Lax eatery 1u ***

1.15 pm - cendol again. An add on mini bowl MYR 6++
Foc free flow of hot green tea for him and cold green tea for me

1.16 pm - most popular nasi lemak deep fried pork ribs with deep fried curry leaves MYR 26++
He was curious to try this deep fried pork ribs. Crunchy flavourful pork ribs. A bit oily which is to be expected.

1.18 pm - a plate of 5 pork satay is MYR 24++ but I am very full so we just ordered per stick at MYR 5.50++ to try. I say one stick he says two so he ate 1.75 sticks cos I can only manage to taste 0.25 stick. I like the taste and the tender lean satay pork. The peanut dip is tasty too but I couldn't eat much so just tried a bit of the dip.

1.52 pm - total MYR 49.90 nett.

1.56 pm - shopfront

1.34 pm - my portion. After I ate this plate of food, I couldn't stand up straight because of tummy muscles pain due to the muscles being stretched too much. I managed to meditate and got myself home safely in pain πŸ˜‚ 🀣 via mrt and feeder bus. I didn't eat any pain meds, totally no meds at all and after the food has digested, the pain went away on its own. When will I learn that I can only eat a small portion of food daily πŸ˜‚

Very tasty food for this day.
Only issue is my tummy is trained to be too small to accommodate all the food πŸ˜‚ so I have to endure the pain

Morning 42.90
Next morning 43.80

Note: both of us wore masks and two 30+ men stood up and offer their seats on the mrt to us on the way to kd early morning. Oh dear, we have reached that age where people automatically offer their seats to us. To be courteous we thanked them and didn't refuse the seats as not to embarrassed their good intentions.

I have read that young people in some countries refused to offer their seats even when the elderlies asked them for their seats. I guess these young people must be very tired from working hard the whole day. Luckily the young people in kl still very courteous and strong πŸ’ͺ

  1. Last week i took LRT to KL and on my way back i stood all the way home, although there was a seat in front of me. A young man office worker asked if i wanna take tht seat before he went for it after i signaled tht i m ok to stand. Poor dude, he mst be too tired from his work.

  3. Oh dear, you ate so much that it became so uncomfortable. I did that once many years ago at Chillis in KLCC. It was terrible, my stomach felt like it would explode! But after walking, I felt a lot better. What a lesson to learn! It's good to know that courtesy is still alive. I have had experience where the older folk declined my offer.

    1. I have declined seats before and then felt bad about turning down stranger's kindness so I don't say no thank you any more but accept the seats graciously.

Ya, you are right. I felt like my tummy is going to explode.
