One time only

This cafe is quite popular during breakfast and lunch because they serve both Western and local meals so we went there once for lunch.

I ordered the set Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang meal which includes one drink, soup, rice, chicken and dessert which is just a very small wedge of watermelon - MYR15.90+ 6% GST = MYR16.85 in total. I asked for half a portion of rice and the rice was served like the above (half cut). We could not figure out what the drink was. The taste is weird. I guess it is lots of fresh cucumber juice mixed with a little lemonade soda from bottles. The chicken rendang tastes fine so it was just a typical cafe nasi lemak.

The soup served was this bowl of oily soup with very few pieces of cabbage floating in it. I just ate the cabbage but did not drink the oily soup.

Interior

Zest Cafe at The Sphere. I won't be eating here again because I do not fancy eating the Western meals served here and I could get nasi lemak of the same or even better quality for a much better price elsewhere at The Sphere.

  1. The interior looks nice and comfortable. Sometimes the normal nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaf taste better than those served in cafe.

    1. Yes, sometimes. Some people will never eat nasi lemak in cafes.

  2. a set of lunch could easily cost more than RM15.00 now..we pay part of the price to dine in the comfort of well renovated cafe and air con..

  5. Good grief! Even RM15.90, excluding the GST, is extremely expensive. The soup looks quite typically like those they give at most of the coffee shops - oily...and bland/tasteless.

  6. It look comfy but the nasi lemak is expensive!! Gosh. That is why sometime I try to refrain myself from ordering local dishes in such cafe as not really worth it and do not necessarily nice.

    1. You are smart to not order local dishes since can get to eat more delicious and better priced local food at local coffee shops.

  9. I know the set meal includes dessert....but would have appreciated if they gave you the piece of watermelon on a separate small dish rather than having it touching the sambal! >.<

  10. What I cannot stand is how they serve the rice really in half bowl shape (looks ugly, use a smaller bowl to scoop the rice la), and like contact.ewew said, why put the watermelon together with the sambal??

Lots of room for improvement needed...

  17. It is interesting to note that you go around food hunting like vultures! I enjoy hearing your updates as it actually lured me to try several places you had eaten.

I always eat nasi lemak on a weekly basis as I worry for my cholesterol.
