I believe Laksam is a Kelantan dish and refers to the noodle that is made from rice flour. The sauce is made from coconut milk and ground fish meat so the sauce is very rich and can be cloying if eaten too much.
This is how the Laksam noodles look like.

Get satiated very quickly so this dish has to be shared
I have not eaten Laksam noodles before. Looks like very thick sauce. So how is the taste like?
ReplyDeleteTaste very rich and a bit creamy.
DeleteI dont think I've eaten Laksam before. All this while I tot it is a sour dish.
ReplyDeleteNo, not sour at all.
DeleteThey're thick and rich. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead.
Yes, you are right! Thanks! Same to you too!
DeleteKelantanese. We do get this sometimes at the Malay kuih stall that I frequent. Not bad, I quite like it.
ReplyDeleteOh, so you like it.
DeleteI ate laksam twice, nice.. Kelantan style laksa, something like that.. I like the lemak taste..
ReplyDeleteYou can remember you ate it twice. :D
DeleteI have not tried laksam before.. when I first heard of this name of the dish, I thought it's a combination of laksa + asam, hahahaha!! coconut milk and fish, hmmm, can imagine it is quite rich huh?? can't see the noodles at all, hehe..
ReplyDeleteThe bottom photo, you can see the noodles, like those thick rolled up ccf.
DeleteI have eaten laksam before, but is home cooked. Got a Kelantanese colleague brought a big pot to the office as thanks for our gifts to his newborn baby. It was alright, but I don't think I will order it at restaurants XD
ReplyDeleteWhy not order in restaurants? Because you can always get your colleague to cook it for you?
DeleteNot quite used to the flavors, that's all I can say.. And don't ask me to describe what flavor specifically, laksam flavor lah XD
DeleteI didn't detect any unique laksam flavor. Perhaps it is just the way your colleague cooks it, not the same as the one I ate.
DeleteNever taste laksam before. I would take few spoons but not too much if it has too much coconut milk. My stomach would feel comfortable if have too much coconut milk.
ReplyDeleteI think you will feel satiated if you eat the whole meal.
DeleteI don't think I've had this before but if there's coconut milk, I'm sure I'd like it.
ReplyDeleteAfter mixing with the fish meat, the coconut milk taste is not that distinct.
DeleteAnything with coconut milk and I'm in!
ReplyDeleteTry this then! :D
DeleteAh I JUST tried this last week! I quite like it. Only thing I'm fussy about the noodle being so bland inside. I ended up cutting up each of them before eating so the sauce can go in. :)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you try this? I only know this place but would like to try other places too.
DeleteWe also have this in Terengganu but I am not a fan.
ReplyDeleteOh, you are from Terengganu. Why not?
DeleteLaksam... sounds like laksa to me.. anything connected to it, I am a fan too!
ReplyDeleteTry this and see whether you like it or not.
DeleteI had never tried so many types of local Malay food which are often delicious. I need to try this Laksam too as I believe the coconut based is definitely my liking.
ReplyDeleteYes, do try when you see this on the menu and blog about it! :)
