I saw this small soursop in the supermarket selling for MYR6 something and it was soft so I assumed that it was ripe enough to be eaten immediately so I bought it.
When I reached home, I wanted to eat it immediately but I like eating it cold so I put it into the freezer for about half an hour. It was not frozen, just cold enough for me to enjoy it. Sour with a tinge of sweetness - very refreshing. I will buy more if I can find ripe ones.
The drink is very mighty popular now all over town...since somebody said something about its health benefits. Not easy to buy the fruit in town anymore.

DeleteIt is no longer a cheap fruit, a very much sought-after fruit for its medicinal value. I like this fruit but not easy to find nowadays.

DeleteI've never bought the whole fruit, usually just order the drink when I'm eating out.. Very nice and refreshing.. But I think most places soak the fruit in sugar syrup.. Taste too sweet and sticky most of the time..

DeleteI thought the sweetsop I bought at RM3 was expensive....this soursop is double the price!! :( Is there any difference in taste between the sweetsop and soursop?
ReplyDeleteOne is sweet and one is sour. The other difference is that the flesh of sweet soup is much softer. The flesh of soursop is more chewy.

DeleteI only drink soupsop juice from coffee shops. Never bought the fruits before. How do we know it ripe??
ReplyDeleteIt is soft when ripe but there is no fragrant smell and no colour changes.

DeleteI haven't bought one in ages. Coz I never know when it's ripe... used to have extremes of either raw ones with texture of potato or mushy half-black overripe ones.
