Kim-zen Dim Sum

MYR4.90 per basket for Siu Mai (3) and Har Gao (3) - taste is acceptable. MYR4.50 per basket for the Lao Sar Paos (3) and BBQ pork Paos (2).

Oooooo, this lao sar pao is tasty but be careful of the hot lava inside the bun. Definitely will order this again.

Glutinous rice with chicken (lo mai kai) - MYR4.90 - I find this too salty for my liking so I will not order this again.

The price of the hot tea listed on the menu is MYR3 so we decided to share a drink of cold barley with winter melon - MYR3.70 - this cold drink is prepacked as above.

Actually we wanted to eat the croissant scrambled eggs with bacon at Antipodean but when we saw the scene above - people standing and waiting for seats, we decided to walk on.

Then we noticed Kim-zen with ample seats so we decided to just try out the dim sum here. For lunch, they serve set rice meals and offer many main dishes to choose from but in the morning, only dim sum is available.

There are also many seats available at the non-air-conditioned area.

Kim-zen, Midvalley
Service Charge: 10%
Govt. Tax: No
Credit Card Payment: Not sure
Air conditioned: Yes but not enclosed
Total Bill: MYR30.15 (2 pax)

  1. My kid loves paos but I always need to cool it down first or he'll burn his tongue with the hot filling inside.

  2. Another new place, didn't see it last year. Looks good, standard pricing. Ya, great move on your part - don't bother queuing for anything! Insult to injury.

    1. I agree that it is too expensive to eat daily. Once a week should be ok.

  4. I always thought it is just me, when I see long queue then I will move on to the less crowded restaurants. I always tell my friends jokingly, usually those who prefer to join the long queues are non KL people who come here to work, weekends they got nothing better to do with their time, that's why they rather queue LOL!

    1. But when I go on holiday to Japan I have to queue because those 100 years old restaurants have long queues. Food is too tasty to be missed.

    1. Labour and raw materials cost has increased so I guess for the price to stay the same something has to give and that something is the quality of the end product.

    1. You must eat at home a lot then because if you eat out every meal like I do, can't stay away from dim sum for long.
